December WISH Thread: 'tis the season... for healthy living

6/16 not bad since I never saw the holiday and only watched love actually once ha

Hanging out for a bit before going out with a friend to see wicked! Last night was the family trip to the polar express. Between traffic and parking and how bitterly cold it was I found myself pondering if it’s worth the hassle…then I watched DD with Santa and was like yup it is worth it.

The quiz was a little wonky on my phone - the 4th box kept blanking out (or going so tiny I couldn't read it) and then after the song question it didn't give me either another question OR results - ???

But it was fun anyway! I surprised myself with a couple I got right, but also got some wrong. I think I would have been in the middle of the pack.

Well I certainly didn’t expect to miss most of this week…Thanks Oneanne for starting us off for December. I spent the week doing parent teacher conferences on the phone to make up for the fully scheduled conference day I missed because I was home sick. Meanwhile, progress report grades for the first half of the 2nd quarter were already due by Friday. So, in the midst of my holiday theme launch, too many phone calls with parents, I had to give a bunch of quizzes and enter grades. It was nuts. I am finally over my cold which dragged on for a ridiculous amount of time.

Oneanne…I am once again impressed by you and how you live your life. France. Wow. I would love to relocate to Sweden, but I would need my daughter to join us too (she did fall in love with the country when she was there in May). The other issue would be not speaking the language and making a living there. I truly hope that you make your dream a reality.

I guess first nice thing for me is having a late lay-in... sorry about posting so late.

Having the stove on and the house temp at 68 degrees feels so decadent, all I want to do is lay around and luxuriate. But I am going to get myself going and run some errands before the football game starts. I've decided to get back in to reading, so this afternoon I'll crack open the first book, and I'll also do the test bake of the Mango Tajin Thumbprint cookies. I got my NIL a mushroom growing kit which is considered "live" and can't wait until Christmas, so I'll take it over and some cookies later in the day.
Happy Sunday everyone.

Nothing in the poster above today, but I had some nice "family time" care instead - DH and DS needed to pick up their new/altered suits for Lodge, so I went along for the ride and went to the Michael's next door while they did that, then we all went shopping together for the toy drive. It was nice chatting in the car.

I love your elf and fox, @Summer2018!

We had a good weekend here. Saturday we did all of our running around including visiting DH's grandmother. Things are not looking good. DH and had a talk about his short temper last week and once I said that we all needed some grace and that we are going through a lot he understood why he was so angry. He lived with his grandma for a lot of his childhood and even in his late teens and early 20's so she is like a mom to him.

I did try the quiz but stopped after the first couple questions. I haven't seen either of the movies and wasn't getting any of them right.

My self care was making dinner and resting yesterday. We ate out everyday last week and we all just needed some home cooked meals.

Motivation this week is to (and this will sound horrible) is to not end up like DH's mom and to get our weight and healthy eating under control now before it is too late. His mom is severely over weight and has feet and knee issues so is not very mobile. She just found out she has uterine cancer (sounds like very early stages of it) and needs to have a hysterectomy but they are not sure they will be able to do it because of her breathing (this is from the weight as well as scarring from pneumonia several years ago). We see what this weight is doing to her and we are at the age that we can make changes. I have started to do Jazzercise and I really like it. The plan was to go on Saturday and Tuesday but for right now I am only able to do Saturday because we will be visiting Jeff's grandmother on Tuesday's (we are going T-TH-one day over the weekend - the days we have a car). This will be just this month and will change with the kids changing schedule for the spring semester. So I am hoping in January I can add in Tuesday and by Feb add a 3rd day.

And here we are at Monday again. Motivation for this week.... I really need to clean up my eating. I've been coughing quite a bit again and need to get that under control before sharing space in the Christmas cabin. That means eliminating dairy, nuts and potatoes all of which I've been having. It only takes a couple days to get clean, I just need to get started. I also need to find another exercise thing to do beside Pilates twice a week, so will start working on finding something.

Happy Monday friends how are you staying motivated this week?
Love this quote.

This is a tough time of year to not give in to every temptation. I’m trying really hard to hold it together and when I do indulge, I am doing it in moderation.

I am motivated by past holiday seasons when I totally lost control and really regretted it. I am doing my best not to do that again.

I had an airing-it-out conversation with my Niece Sunday. We're both people who plan things but get tired of being expected to plan things. And we both have family members who are just now thinking about Christmas, which is now two weeks out, and expecting us to make the plans. Totally petty thing to complain about and 100% in alignment with the spirit of Festivus!

Every year I fall behind in December. I am racing to get presents, wrap them, decorate, make cookies, make a big dinner and also work a full time job. It is exhausting and I get very overwhelmed. I hate the stress that comes with this time of year.

I am not sure what happened this year. I had everything done on Black Friday. I might have bought a few things on Saturday but I am done. Then Sunday everything changed and my life got chaotic. However I am feeling more at easy with Christmas itself. Somehow I knew that I just needed to get it done early. The tree is still not decorated but it is up. DD and her friend are going to decorate it on Friday. I will start making cookies this weekend and through the week and Christmas eve is up in the air. DH still doesn't want to do it. He is talking about making a nice dinner to take to his grandmother and spending time with her then taking food to his grandfather (it is his step dad father and he had a rough year too) and spending time with him and then maybe seeing our friends with the twins. He does not want to see his step dad or sister. So we will see what happens in the next 2 weeks. But I am feeling much more at ease this year.

Hellooooo everyone!!!

DH and I got a wild hair and decided to go to Epcot festival of the holidays on Sunday!! Super duper cheap flights (if Spirit airlines goes out of business I don’t know what I will do) and a great pass holder room rate at all star music made us pull the trigger at the last minute without hesitation!!

DD did not want to travel on such short notice so she didn’t come with us (she regretted it!!!!)

We left Sunday on a noon flight and returned last night on a 930pm flight. We went to Disney springs Sunday and had amazing appetizers and cocktails at Summer House on the lake and scored a last minute dinner reservation at Morimoto Asia-both were absolutely delicious and highly recommend!

Yesterday morning I was awake bright and early and I decided to catch the bus to MK for the extra half hour to see the Christmas decorations. I drank a Shakin Jamaican, strolled through MK and took it all in. I rode Haunted mansion as it was a walk on at 9am and my favorite ride, then got a order of cheeseburger spring rolls and sat at a empty Casey’s corner, looking at the castle and having my unusual (but delicious) breakfast. Absolute bliss!!

DH did have to attend a work meeting and make several calls, so we sat by the pool enjoying the sun while he took care of all of that.

Then headed to to Epcot! We stored our backpacks in the lockers and started going around to all the festival booths. Started in mexico and made it to France before throwing in the towel. Everything we had was so so so good!!

Lined up at 430 for candlelight processional and got in for the 5pm showing. Did not care for the narrator however music and singing were amazing!!

Was in the Uber at 7pm and sitting at the Mexican restaurant by our gate at 745! Regular security was 4 MINUTES at MCO last night. DH beat me and I have precheck lol!!! I get precheck free though my job and honestly if I paid for it I would be upset. I can’t say that recently it saves me any time vs my travel companions who do not have precheck. Maybe 5-10 minutes but that’s the most. Normally it’s the same exact time.

Sorry so mini trip report but goodness we had the BEST time!!

Motivation this week is to get off all this bloat and weight from our weekend free for all LOL!
