December Warriors Racing from Holiday to Holiday

6 miles in 58:00 yesterday + weights last night. Breaking in my NEW marathon shoes. Not much else to report.

Probably taking the day off (maybe a long walk, but not much more....) today.

18 days 'till the 5k! Time is RACING by....................... !!!!!!

Hi Warriors,

I did my 8 miles on a day off last week and have gone into a "holding pattern" until after the cruise. I'll keep up my 4 mile runs (or close to 4) while on the Wonder and at DL then hit some long runs again when I get home the end of Jan.

Good Luck with all your races if I don't get back before the cruise.

Have a great time! Give Linda (and any others I'd know) a hug for me!

HELLO HUMANS! he he he,I'm just imagining being in the Monster comedy show!

You guys are all doing so well!!!! Training in horrid conditions and getting those long runs in all of you are fantabulous.

Carrie please be careful with your slipping and sliding- hope your back's ok.

Sarah woo hoo for rolling time- that is brilliant. Blimey he's growing quickly. Your run on that path is craziness, poor trees.

Jim mini goofy done, yeah forced taper time isn't always a bad time!

Pam That is brilliant commitment to keep doing 4 miles on holiday!

Jeremy we're going to have to re-brand ourselves as bambi's if we carry on sliding! Good work tho.

Stan Happy taper time

Me I've got to head to the gym for 9 miles tomorrow as I really can't face the roads. Had a magical run on fresh snow very early on Wednesday, it was so lovely! Just 4 miles, but ran solely by how many songs I was doing each way so no garmin and no pacing so made a lovely change!

Happy December Warriors!

Sorry I have been MIA lately, but I've been busy with life.

It looks like everyone has been keeping up with the miles and has kept relatively injury free.

I have been training/running, October 31 I ran the Marine corp marathon & just a couple of weeks ago I ran the Honolulu marathon with Mkymshi...with a few half marathons thrown in here and there.

I will be at WDW running Goofy, but I probably won't be at the WISH meet on Friday evening. Hopefully, some of you will be at the Boardwalk Bakery on Monday morning...so I will be able to meet some of the Warriors. Only a couple of weeks until WDW weekend!

Keep on running!

Marcia - Sorry we won't see you Friday, but we will be there Monday!

Kate - Back's fine and DH adn I have officially declared teh path unrunnable for the rest of the winter, unless we get a thaw. No need to worry about us any more. usually, we woudl not risk what we did. Circumstances just kind of forced us, though. :guilty: Still, it was a bad choice.

OK, had a bonus core this am. Good thing for swimming core adn yoga, as they force us to do them. No time for runnign this weke, though. how does this happen. I thought we were ahead. :confused3 :rolleyes1

Have a very Merry Christmas my Warrior friends!!!!

Gosh the Christmas season sure takes a bite out of my running time! This is the first year I haven't had WDW staring me in the face a couple of weeks after Christmas since I started running. I'm considering myself lucky to get two runs in these past couple of weeks. Hopefully after church tomorrow when all the Christmas stuff is over I'll get back to at least 3 runs a week.

MERRY CHRISTMAS WARRIORS

Just finished our 15K walk. Average pace was 16.19 and the 15K had a better time than we were at Space Coast. No knee pain:cool1: Two weeks and we should be over with the 1/2.

Kathy

:littleangel: Merry :santa: Christmas :littleangel:

Kathy - Congratulation on the 15K

Pam - Getting out can be tough between the holiday and the weather. But, we do what we can.

Kate - Hope your 9 miler when well. I don't know if I could do it on a treadmill. 45min. is about all I can do.

Sarah - It's a shame the trail wasn't in better shape.

AFM - I ended up getting out 3 times this week but didn't really get a long run in. I talked about Monday previously. Wednesday, I decided to try something new. I tried to do run .25mi / walk 1:30. That cuts my walk break on the extended running days in half. I ended up needing to cut the run interval short a couple of times but mostly on a couple of hills. All total I did 2.8 miles;.4mi warmup; 1.8 mi of them was running; .6mi was walking between the runs. So, a lot more running than normal.

Friday I did 3.8 miles before going to Christmas Eve services at church. My total mileage for the month so far is down but where I'm running is slightly hillier but not real hilly.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Boxing Day!

Can't believe it all goes by so quickly

I'm on a countdown for all of you that are headed to WDW Marathon, so ridiculously excited for everyone..... you'll be amazing.

I've just come in from 5.5 miles outside in proper icy rain and wind, not all that fun but it went ok. yeah the 9miles on TM was fine as I just make sure there's something interesting on TV!

Kathy you've come on so far  warrior cuddle! Well done for your determination and courage.

Happy Last Day of Monday Night Football for 2010 Warriors!!

Tick...tock..tick...tock... Where has the time gone??? Just a few months ago I was saying "I gotta start gettin' Goofy ready!!". Now I'm saying " uh, oh, I just HOPE I'm ready"

The last week has been spotty at best. Sick for a few days, work, life, etc. Everything has been tugging in different directions. Ugh.

But I DID manange to get in a 4 miler yesterday (& Boy, was it COLD!! Wind chills well below freezing. In Florida!!! There were actually little itty-bitty SNOW FLURRIES here yesterdy).

Also got in about 6.9 today. Felt much better & I think I am about 95% over my illness. Work tomorrow, & then a "Bonzai" trip up to Memphis, So I probably will not get to run again until the 2nd. Oh well, a nice forced taper and "Pre-recovery" before the big weekend.

Howdy Warriors!

Well, I better be ready, now. Callum and I both came down with colds over the weekend so there was no long run in sight... I'm going to try getting at least a couple runs on the treadmill in before we leave next Wednesday, but I have to get rid of this darn cold, first. I feel like I'll be better by Thursday, but Callum seemed to be more congested today than he was on the weekend. Poor little bunny. It also means that I don't get much sleep, either.

Also, can I just rant for a second that the logistics of packing for this trip are defeating me!!! First there's the normal Disney stuff, then add in the fact that we never know if it's going to be 80 degrees or 30 degrees until we actually get out there, this time of year. Then there's the running stuff - I'm running the 5K and the half so I need running gear for two days. Next, I've never traveled with an infant before, so I'm sure I'm over packing on that. HOW MANY FREAKING DIAPERS DO I NEED TO PACK FOR 8 DAYS?!?!? WHY AM I BRINGING A STROLLER, WHEN I'VE LITERALLY USED IT AT HOME 4 TIMES SINCE CALLUM WAS BORN??? :confused3 :rotfl2: Ok, then we're staying at a DVC villa so I'm trying to remember things like laundry detergent and dishwasher soap. And add in the fact that my family and DH's family decided to do Christmas while we're at Disney, and so I have gifts for 8 people. I might as well just cash in my SWA flights for credit, rent a U-haul, and start driving, now. :rolleyes1

That is all. Hope everyone had a great holiday. Looking forward to seeing some of you next week!

Sarah - I totally feel your pain. :rotfl2: We've traveled with infants many times and it's amazing how much "gear" they require. We usually order diapers from garden grocer so I don't have to pack so many. They aren't cheap but it sure beats taking a suitcase full. Especially if you're staying in a villa and want some food and stuff. Just a suggestion...

The holidays killed my running. Something about hosting my 1st Christmas dinner for 13 people made me feel like I didn't have time. Not to mention 3 kids and all that entails... :thumbsup2 But Christmas was great so it was worth it!
I managed a 4 mile run in 54 minutes which is pretty fast for me. We got 18 inches of snow Sun/Mon so I was stuck on a treadmill again. And I had been hoping to run outdoors this week. :confused3 I did get some cool running-related stuff for Hanukkah and Christmas so I'm psyched about that!
I don't think I'll make it to the DIS meets because we're a party of 7, including my parents. Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you on this trip!!!

Amanda

Happy New years

Good Luck to all the Warriors doing the WDW Marathon weekend races.

Things have been busy around here. The family got together on the 30th for our Christmas gathering. It was good to get together. I was still able to get out 3 times. Monday and Wednesday were fairly uneventful. Monday I continued the run .25mi/walk 1:30 I started trying last week. Wednesday I did a 4 miler.

Yesterday, yhe weather out here was great. It actually got up to 60. It's not going to last though the low tomorrow is forecast to be in teens. Since it was such a great day I decided to go out for a longer run. My mom wanted to go out for a ride. So, I had dad take me over to the next town about 4 miles away and I would run home on the rail-trail I normally use during the summer. With the nice weather, I figured the trail would be mostly clear and I was partly right. The first mile or so was great. All of the sudden, I got a cool breeze and looked ahead and the trail covered with about 3/4" of slush/ice/snow. I'm doing a one way trip and this is the only practical path so I keep going. It stays like that for the next 2 miles. The final 1.5 miles on the trail were completely clear and almost dry. From the head of the trail, I went on surface streets back home for a total of 6 miles. I did a 14:54 pace for the first mile pre-snow covered. A 16:17 pace on the snow covered section. Finally a 14:30 pace to the finish. I did a 1:15 run/1:40 walk. I kept that up pretty much the entire time. It actually seemed a little bit easier to run than walk on the snow. The only thing I can think of is a shorter stride them I was running.

Happy New Year to all my Warrior friends!
I can't believe marathon weekend is almost here. I ran outdoors today (due to childcare issues most of my runs have been on a treadmill). I ran way too fast and felt it. But that's good to know! I went 2.8 miles in 34 minutes. It felt good, even though I need to slow down a bit. It's quite slushy and wet due to our 18 inches of snow last weekend.
I really hope I get to meet as many of you as possible next weekend. We're arriving on Thurs and staying until Monday night.
I'm already thinking about either F&W or next year's 1/2. I'd like to train a little more/better and try to improve my times (says the person who hasn't raced her 1st 1/2 yet!).

Amanda

FOrgive me. the holidays took over asn being on teh boards right now makes me nervous. Oh, and I pulled a hammy friday while walking and not pushing it. So grateful for my yoga instructor who's a physical therapist. She talked my off teh ledge yesterday, gave me some nice yoga today and will see me as a PT with some special InterX that's supposed ot do wonders for inflammation tomorrow. Yay! Getting better. Funny, it hurts worse when I obsess over it. Nothing mental here. :upsidedow

SAfe travels everyone! (Even if you're not heading to WDW)

Sarah - I will try to think of you as I curse trying ot pack just for me tonight. DOn't leave until Thursdya night but life has thrown me some ringers as usual.

Kathy - Awesome progress! I have a feeling you may be meeting up with my ocusin along the way. Her name is APril, she'll be wearing a WISH shirt and is doing her first half. Very worried about her lack of training. You will likely leave her in the dust but mat start near her.

Just wanted to wish everyone the best this weekend!!! We're flying early tomorrow morning. I'm so excited I can barely stand it!

Amanda

Happy Day before the %K Warriors!!

It's gettin' cool down here in O-Town!! Looks like it's going to be a great weather weekend!!

I ran 6 miles this a.m. just to make sure the running garb would all work without excess wear & tear against the more, uhhhhhh, well.................... delicate portions. Everything seems to be ok. Tights over compression shorts + a long sleeve compression shirt with a "throwaway" shirt on top. Better than the SIX layers I started the Mickey with last year!!!

5k tomorrow, Goofy after. Hopefully my sporadic, sketchy training without a REALLY long run will not prove to bite me in the butt.

If you see some fool walking aimlessly around the gathering area in a fluorescent green knit cap, that'll be me. I used to have an "official" WISH hat, but there is a funny story involving the DL 1/2 and a porta-potty that spelled the end of that. There are certain places I will Just. Not. Go.

Hope ya'll have a great weekend, regardless of where you are & what you're doing!!

Hi all Hopefully the half went well for everyone, and good luck on the full.

I ended up doing 4,4, and 3.3 this week. This weekend was supposed to be 7 be weather and life got in the way. My knee had been stiff the last couple of days though so an unplanning cut back week might have been a good thing. Monday's 4 miler was done run .25 mile/walk 1:30. I'm not ready to race that but it does make a good workout. Wednesdays was run 1:30/walk 1:30. I'm hoping to do my April half at that ratio. Todays was run 1:15/walk 2:15. This is what I did for the October half. I wasn't as fast as October (probably thanks to the snow). But after doing more agressive walk run intervals it felt pretty easy.
