December UY?

We are considering buying into DVC, but we are very confused about UY. Is it true that if you buy at AKV now, you will have a Dec UY? We usually vacation in May right now because our kids are small, and will be for the next 3 years. When they get school age, we would vacation mostly in late June, July, early August. Occasionally in December, but that doesn't even need to be in the equation.

Would a Dec. UY be a good fit for us? Why or Why not?

I do not know which UY AKV is offering at this time but we have a Dec UY, and I can talk about that.

With a Dec UY, you have to bank before the end of July, so if you are planning to go to trips in May, I think this would work out well for you. You can get your trip accomplished, and then back any remaining points you have by July, and use them up until Dec of the following year.

I was just there this past week and we were offered a December use year for AKV's. I don't know much about it so I'm not sure if a different one could have been requested.

I just bought in June in AKV with a December UY. I am new to this, but as I understand, after July 31 each year, you can not bank points. So, should you schedule a vacation in Aug and have to cancel after the July 31 date, you would not be able to bank the points.

We just bought AKV today and were offered December UY. This is what I wanted, so not a big deal. I know I have read somewhere else, that if you press them for a different UY, you might get lucky.

From all the advice I was given, December would work for us. I am a teacher, so vacations are limited to certain times of the year. First priority is summer, then January, then March. The biggest vacations would be taken in the summer. You are right, you do have until July 31 to bank.
