December use year/points question

I recently bought a second contract with a December use year. I have 61 points remaining in 2022 and 200 points in 2023. I’m looking to book at our home resort (BWV) at the 11 month window. Booking at the end of this month for an October 2023 trip. Can I use my 2022 and some 2023 points for this trip? The December use year is so confusing! Because, I technically won’t have the 2022 points at the end of this month when I want to book. However, will have them when I want to travel. So if I’m looking at this correctly I would only be borrowing from my 2023 points.

if you have Dec 2022 points, they are good for any trip that occurs between Dec 1, 2022 and Nov 30, 2023. For any such trip, you could, if needed, also borrow points from the Dec 2023 use year, when making the reservation.

As to actually making the reservation, you can do that at 11-months out for home resort regardless of when your use year begins. Thus, today, Nov 12, 2022, you could book any trip that will occur in your Dec 1. 2022 to Nov 30, 2023 use year that starts on or before Oct 12, 2023. And your "current" use year points for that trip will be the Dec 2022 points, and you could also borrow points from the Dec 2023 use year when making the reservation.

As to planning your trip, be aware that BWV currently has a serious problem for getting reservations in Oct next year. Late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan is DVC's high demand season for WDW DVC Resorts. BWV will be going through a renovation in 2023. As part of that renovation, the boardwalk view villas will be unavailable for time in the fall of 2023 -- thus far that time is from Sep 9 through Oct 19 (we learn daily when checking for reservations online if another day is added, i.e., we do not yet have an end date for the shut-down of the boardwalk view villas). The result of that absence of so many rooms has been members reserving, right at 11-months out, both standard and pool/garden-view rooms, particularly studios (and as a result also 2BRs since all two-bedrooms are lock-offs and if the studio is reserved the 2BR also disappears), and both are sufferriing from an 11-month issue, i.e., they may fill within nanoseconds at 8 a.m. eastern at exactly 11-months out.

You should see December 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 on your dashboard now. You have them now. You could even borrow 2023.

Easiest way if start with UY of the trip and forget about calendar year. A October 2023 trip is in your Dec 2022 UY.

It can be booked with banked 2021 points..if you had them…2022 points and borrowed 2023 points.

Don't think of it that way. You already have all the points through the end of your contract in 2042. You're only limited by the timeframe that you're allowed to use them.

I also own Dec UY contracts. The above is correct… your Oct 2023 trip will occur in your 2022 UY. If you don’t have enough points for the ressie you can borrow from your 2023 allotment.

The one caution is that borrowing is a one way transaction. If you would need to cancel for any reason you will need to use the borrowed points by Nov 2023 or they will expire.

If you typically like to travel in the fall, Dec is not a great UY to have. I like to travel Dec, spring and summer so it works for me.

OP stated they had recently purchased the contract and would not be available when they wanted to book makes me believe they have not been loaded to their account.

This contract may be a different use year then OP currently has and then a new membership would have to be created first before the points could be loaded
