Just booked our December 2017 visit to BWV and considering adding a stay at either Hilton Head or Vero Beach at one end. What is December like at Hilton Head?

We just returned from our fourth annual Christmas to New Year trip to HHI and loved it. I would not describe it as beach weather but rather outdoors weather. Typically it is mid to upper 60s and beautiful. Last year was mid 70s. Good news is that the pools are very warm, the beach is still pretty to walk, and the activities are a lot of fun. Such a great group of cast members. Instead of spending all day at the beach we zipline, shop, golf, putt putt, and enjoy all the many activities at the resort.

We just went the 17th-21st. We got one nice pool day, and it warmed up the day we left. We did lots of shell hunting/beach walking, some community hall events, and a couple trips to Benny Hudson's to pick up fish to cook back at the villa for dinner.

Great vibe, great staff.

We went in December several years ago, early-ish in the month if I recall correctly. I'm from Florida, so it was positively frigid to me! LOL
They actually had quite a cold snap during our weekend there, so although we went on the beach to see it, we didn't do anything in the water. We were at the pool area for quite a while one day, and only one family braved it and got out rather quickly. We really enjoyed our time, but my husband would refuse to go back in December again. ;)

We were there the very first week in December. What time of month are you going? If the beginning of the month, the Christmas decorations are already up.

Do you mind sharing who you use for zip lining and is mini golf at the resort or do you go off property? We are considering our first trip and I am clueless about the resort and area in general!

Mini-golf is off-property. There's a nice mini golf course about 1 mile south (?)-towards Sea Pines on the right.
At the resort, there's a putting green-if I remember, it was near Building 18. They just put it in about a year ago, and either it survived Hurricane Matthew (not likely) or they redid it after the Hurricane.

HHI is nice anytime but the weather will be hit of miss and some things may be closed. VB might be a better option unless the HHI is a good option to break up the trip.

Thanks. I think we'll go to VB, if we decide to extend our trip. Now thinking about trying to swap out some nights of our BWV stay for CCV or extending our visit at CCV instead!
