We will be taking a family trip (3 adults) in December. Our dates are open, but i'd prefer to leave on a Sunday and return Thursday.

We fly out of PVD so the available airlines are Southwest; Breeze; Delta; American and JetBlue. I may be forgetting one

What is everyone finding for decent airfare? Its tough to price it out since the dates are so open.

Looks like Breeze is the cheapest. I don't think their price includes checked luggage though.

I fly to MCO out of PVD. Delta and American do not fly direct so I would probably take them off your list. I would also price out one way tickets for Southwest, JetBlue and Breeze for both too and from MCO. We are flying in December and found it cheaper to fly down on Southwest and back home on JetBlue.

We paid $229 for November 30th (flight to MCO) on Southwest when airfare was released. That same flight is $375 now. Our return flight is $150.

Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most expensive times to travel and almost all flights sell out.

Airline tickets for peak travel periods like Thanksgiving or Christmas need to be purchased as soon as your travel plans have been finalized. LOTS of people travel at that time and once the lowest priced seats on any given flight are sold, the fare jumps to the next higher category. However, Christmas day tends to be a low travel day since most going somewhere for the Holiday have already arrived. So you still need to look around to see what options might work with your travel plans. Had the impression OP was talking about December travel that wasn't related to a Holiday.

Southwest has a current sale (book by tonight) that goes up through Dec 18. I see $94 on Sun Dec 8 from PVD. Bit more on the following Thursday return - $129

They had a big sale in June that included December. I got great rates on Dec 9 and 12th and 13th (can’t decide when to come home)

I'm actually finding our December airfare to be cheaper than any of the other times of year we've flown the past few years!
We are flying United, sorry that's not very helpful.

Yesterday, I booked a flight on Breeze out of Evansville, IN for mid-December with the Nicer Bundle, 1 carry-on, 1 checked bag, priority boarding and extra leg room seats for $296 pp for two. It was cheaper than the Nice Bundle.

Have never heard of Breeze. Don't think they fly out of the DC airports.

Some of those airports are pretty good size! Orlando, Phoenix, LAX, SFO
