December 30th dinner & dessert party at MK

Looking for suggestions: if we book the 6pm garden view dessert party on December 30th, what time should we eat dinner? Before or after dessert party? Interested in having dinner at a sit down restaurant in Magic Kingdom. Or do we have dinner around 6pm and go to the later dessert party?

Great question. We are waiting for the 30th dessert party to open as well and currently booked for 6 pm at The Plaza.

I noticed that there are 2 different times for the party. Does anyone know if one is for HEA and the other for NYE fireworks? Or are both for NYE fireworks?

For 2017 & 2018, both the 6:30pm and 11:50pm shows on 12/30 & 12/31 were Fantasy in the Sky with the NYE countdown ending. Exact same show all four times. The only difference each day is the 11:50pm show is the full ‘360 degree’ show, which means they shoot off fireworks from an island in the middle of the Seven Seas Lagoon in addition to the 180 degree perimeter MK launch points (but this mostly benefits those at the MK resorts vs those inside MK).

Presumably it will be the same this year, but small caveat in case they change something.

I guess to me it depends on what you want your overall plan to be that day. Do you want to be in the MK for both shows and make a night of it? Just one?

The fireworks shows that day are at 6:30pm and 11:50pm. The 6:30pm show dessert party starts at 5pm. Granted you don’t have to show up on time if you don’t want to, personal preference. But timing a dinner before this party likely means a late afternoon dinner which may/may not work for your plans. I personally would rather eat a later sit down dinner after the show.

I’ve done the early show dessert party the last two years on 12/30 - I’ve enjoyed both but our plan was to let the crowds die down a bit then head back to the resort to rest up for the next day, not stick around for the second show.

Our window opened today 180+3 and the Dec. 30th time slots are highlighted but it says “no tables available.” Does anyone know if they are already booked or if it has not been released.

Without knowing who you mean by "we," this is what I would do if it was my family of mostly 4 adults: Early dinner at Skipper Canteen and just have apps or maybe share an entree or two. I want to eat light, so I can enjoy the desserts later. Then do the late dessert party and close down MK.
