December 24, 2011 Celebrating a Magical 6-Night Caribbean Christmas Cruise

We did the 10 day Christmas cruise in 2006. Booked this one about a year ago. Thought I'd stop in and say hello. Cary me, Susan DW, Erin DD 16, and Kelly DD 14. :woohoo:

Welcome!
Please come by our Cruise Meet the first day. We would love to meet you all in person and your girls can meet the other teens their age too.

Well this should be an interesting trip. I now have walking pneumonia, mom has a respiratory virus and my brother has torn the ligaments in his wrist and is in a brace for the next month. Oh well it is what it is at least none of us are contagious. Started packing can not wait to get on that plane on Wednesday.
See all of you soon!
Melissa

When and Where? Sounds like fun. The thread for the 10 Day Magic Christmas cruise in 2006 was huge. If I remember, at the time it was the biggest thread on dis. Good times! Great to be back!

sounds like it was a fun group.

The first drink that comes to mind for my area is Orange Juice though. I even have orange trees in my yard.

Hey Karyanne

How did your family Christmas go and how is the ear infection?

We had a really good "fake" Christmas day as Evan likes to call it.:rotfl2: despite me feeling really rough. The cough has caused me to pull stomach muscles I think and I also felt nauseous all day:sad1: not feeling too bad today just washed out, so no packing done today.

We had snow yesterday morning which constituted as a White Christmas for us, which is a rare occasion lol. The children got more then they expected from their early visit from santa and had a lovely day.

Now we really need to get organised. tomorrow I must get the magnet paper for the magnets, pack the FE's in their individual bags and get the packing started.

We have a full week planned now, which actually started off as an empty week. Ties is the shopping for last bits and also I have try and get Holly some new school skirts. Weds we have lunch with friends, Thursday we have a panto
to goto that Rob booked last minute, I also have to drop the dogs at the kennels.

Friday we fly out:banana:

Thanks for asking Jojo.
I hope your cough gets better and that you soon start feeling better.

A White Christmas, even on your "Fake" Christmas sounds wonderful.
You are so going to enjoy the warm weather down here.

We started pulling out the clothes DS is going to wear on the cruise today.
DS also got his bottom braces today, he'll be sore for a couple of days. I made a nice big pot of homemade chicken soup for those sore teeth.

I was back at the Doctor's today, the ear is not getting any better plus on Saturday night I ended up in the ER. I had a really bad case of vertigo. It scared me. They gave me one pill for dizziness and one pill for nausea. When I was at the Doctor's today, I asked about being on the cruise and seasickness etc. The Doctor said that with these pills, I shouldn't get seasick. LOL But the Doctor is concerned with my ear not getting better and is sending me to an ENT. That appointment is Thursday.

The Family Christmas was nice - we had Italian food. DS got Disney gift cards :cool1: I am guessing that the way to use them is to go to Guest Services and put them on our account.

I'm counting down the days but finding it hard to believe that the day of our first cruise is almost here. I'm guessing it won't be real until I see the ship. I'm going to tear up, I'm going to be so happy.

Goodness, and here I was hoping I'd be the only one posting in this thread that I'm not feeling good! I slept miserably last night and woke up today just feeling...off!! My stomach is a mess so I haven't eaten much all day, I'm tired and achy, but other than that, no symptoms. It's too weird and I just keep telling myself I will NOT be sick. I am not sick, I am fine!! Because I will not be sick for our vacation!! :cheer2:

Hi Cary! *waves* Glad you stopped by and look forward to getting to meet you soon! :thumbsup2

Three more days until we leave and I'm still not packed -- Yipes!!

Tis the season to be sickly fa la la la laaa la la la la:rotfl2:

Karynne, sorry to hear your ear is no better and that Cameron is going to be sore for a few days with his mouth.

I didn't realise this is your first cruise, you will most definitely tear up, I do every time and this will be our 9th and 10th:cool1:, stepping into the atrium starts it off and then the sail away followed by every other experience right down to the farewell at the end of the week. You and your family are in for a real treat:cool1::cool1:

Jitsb I hope you are feeling better soon too!

Whoop whoop! No pains today and feeling ready for anything. This morning I headed out to the stores to get some holiday fish food blocks for the goldfish while away, post my Christmas cards and to exchange a shirt that Evan was given at the weekend for a bigger size.

Once that was done and we were home I started on the packing. All but a few items of clothing that need pressing have been packed across the 4 cases, they are quite empty as we have learnt to travel light especially for the warmer weather! Which leaves plenty of room for packing the few Xmas gifts and the FE gifts, and of course for all the goodies we are bound to bring home with us LOL

I am in the process of cooking the children's dinner, Rob is fending for himself as he works away from home during the week, and I shall get a small meal later for me(no pains doesn't quite equal an appetite much yet)
Once the children are in bed, I shall settle down in front of the tv to catch up with the ironing so that tomorrow I can finish the clothes packing part and start on the rest before going to friends for lunch.

Getting really excited now

:cool1: We leave in the morning!!! All of the bags are ready and in the garage ready to be loaded into the taxi. I am so excited! Hope everyone has safe travels! See you on board!

Melissa

Oh we shall enjoy the warmer weather. It is wet and miserable here today.

I feel a little sad today, I have just finished taking down all the Christmas decorations:sad2: but on the plus side I get to decorate all over again on saturday:banana::cool1::santa:

I am finalising the packing and the FE's later, we are off to lunch shortly with friends, and tomorrow is the clean up of the house after taking the dogs to the kennels (no point mopping floors til they have gone) then in the afternoon we are heading out to a pantomime for the children.

for those that are already on their travels or going to be heading out later, safe journey and look forward to seeing you on Saturday

Wheeeeee!!!!! I'm so excited I could barely sleep last night. One more day and we are on the road!! I think this is the first time the thrill has really hit me. My stomach was doing flip-flops this morning! I think I've just been so nervouse something would go wrong, and just putting one foot in front of the other with all the things taking place before the cruise, I hadn't really let myself think about it yet. But finalizing the packing last night really brought it home...we're going back to my MAGIC!!! YES!!!! :yay:

I'm leaving up all our Christmas decorations until we get back. Seeing as we're going to have to tear the house apart for the movers coming on 4 Jan anyways, what a few more ornaments boxes in the clutter?! :lmao:

Ok, gotta go get the boys ready for their last day of school. Will check in with you all tonight... when I can't sleep again! :cloud9:

Can't believe we fly out the day after tomorrow...just three more school days to power through. Thanks for sharing the article about the weather, Karynne! We've had a very dreary, chilly December so far up north and are looking forward to warming up soon.

Safe, smooth travels to everyone! Not sure if we'll be able to make the cruise meet yet, as we're having some family reunion type gathering for ourselves once on board, but hopefully we'll at least get to stop by and say hi!

Busy day for me today with packing mine and DS's things. DH says that he doesn't need to start packing until Friday. Then he brought me his extra battery and camera charger and said, "There, I've started packing."
I've found some landyards for us. I finished organizing the last of the FEs. Added to and then printed out my travel journal. Went to the bank and got plenty of 1's - since we are driving we will have tolls too. Decided what will be packed and what will be carried on. DH wants to bring some Mt. Dew, his drink of choice, since they don't have it on board. Just lots to do... :laundy:

I'm going to the ENT tomorrow since this ear problem hasn't gotten any better. My Doctor called all over town trying to find an ENT that wasn't closed or booked up this week.

Somewhere in the house is DS's matching shirt that I wanted all of us to wear the first day. I have searched high and low - I know it was here last Friday, but that was before the in-laws all came over. I know DS didn't hide it because he really liked it. It is maddening. Hoping it didn't get thrown out with trash, Christmas wrappings, etc. Oh well. Update: We found the shirt!!

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. :santa:

So excited I could barely sleep! We leave at noon tomorrow. The kids and I have been out of school since Friday (I'm a teacher) and we've had lots of time to get ready. It's been very mild here -- Nova Scotia does not get many white Christmases-- but it is grey and dreary. Looking forward to warm weather. See you all Saturday!

Had a hard time sleeping after 3:45 this morning... today is departure day! So excited for 3:40pm to roll around (when school is done) so that I can drive to the airport... Hope the rest of you are having safe travels! The Magic will be waiting for us tomorrow! :-D
