Should we take a weeklong Dec 2021 trip or wait? We want a trip that includes things like fireworks, parades, longer hours, and shows as these things are a big part of Disney to us. My wife and I work in healthcare and education, suffice it to say we are both dealing with Covid on a daily basis in our jobs and we want this trip to be a celebration of us making it through two very difficult years. Obviously we don't know when things will be back to normal but appreciate others thoughts.

How are you making decisions for your late 2021 trip?

We booked our trip for late Oct/early Nov of this year. We're certainly hoping for all the "extras" and a feeling of returning to normalcy in the parks - especially if we're paying full-price for the trip (which is NOT cheap for 7 of us!). If that doesn't happen, we'll reassess as we get closer. I'm not sure how we'll feel by then or what we can expect to return. We're just taking a "wait and see" approach. In the meantime, I did book us a reservation so that I can be sure we'll get the resort we want if we do end up going.

We are also booked for two weeks in late Oct/early Nov. I booked at 11 months and can cancel and not lose points as they will be either banked 2020 or 2021 points. I am pretty insistent we'll go. We're hoping for more normalcy and expect to have our vaccinations by then (our son in medical has both of his already). If we are uncomfortable we'll spend more time at the pool.

We're renting a car, which we do most of the time but we usually take WDW transportation to some parks. We'll use the car except for the monorail. We missed our F & W trip with our son and DIL this year but they were able to go spring and fall. They were not really comfortable with the crowds in early November 2020 and only did one ride in six days mostly walking around EPCOT.

We all need a vacation and let's hope we can move on with our lives soon!

For me, my wait and see "cutoff" is in May-June (right around my 7month DVC window) If I don't see at least a few things announced for return along with a decline in cases, I think we might delay for spring/ summer 2022. A FP+ or Fireworks return announcement wouldn't hurt either 8-)

Yea, this is tough. I'm booked for summer and have accepted that probably none of that will be back -- and we will still be wearing masks.

I'd expect good news to come a little at a time, and so far we haven't gotten much good news at all.

I’ve already booked my trip from Nov 29-Dec 7, and it’s going to take a major disaster to get me to cancel. I went for 5 days at the end of Oct 2020 and really enjoyed it, even with masks in 90+ heat, reduced hours, and lack of fireworks, so it can only get better as things are gradually added back. They seem to be extending some hours in February, and I hope that trend will continue.

Also, IMO, the cavalcades are much more magical than a scheduled parade, so I hope those stick around.
