December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

I like this idea of a dedicated box to put cruise things in. Nothing for a surpise, but just somewhere to keep everything.

We're doing a few days in WDW before heading to see family.

I keep reading all the threads about "what you wish you had on your cruise", etc and I have started buying "cruise stuff" and storing it in the box. For example, found a super cheap magnetic white board situation for the door. Also got a tide stain remover pen, that kind of stuff. :)

I wish we could do WDW first and then the ship, but price wise and vacation time wise - this is how we have to do it! I'm just happy to be in magic for two weeks...so no complaints really! :banana:

As far as revealing the surprise, you could leave hints around the house every now and then, about the up coming vacation. And with each hint make it a little easier for them to guess what it might be. I'm sure some others who have done this will have some good ideas you could use. :thumbsup2

I like this! You know how as soon as the Christmas tree is up...the kids start asking to open JUST ONE PRESENT right now? I was thinking to wrap something cruise related and try to stretch out the excitement a little that way...but I could turn it into a scavenger hunt of some kind. hmmmmmm... :idea:

David,
If you hand wash the dishes for three day it will take the vinegar smell away.
Make sure you use Dawn dishwashing soap- be aware it is concentrated so use less or you will have a big mess to clean up.

Ok Skye, not sure how this is going to help, but I will give it a try.:thumbsup2

Ok, I have washed the dishes a total of 4 times.................nothing.............that vinegar smell still there. We do use Dawn dishwashing soap. So the first thing I did was to load up the dishwasher................I added the Dawn dishwashing soap...................closed the door and locked it...................and fired her up!!! I stood there the whole time while the dishes were being washed. Then I repeated all those steps 3 more times. Still got that vinegar smell!!! What's a man to do!!!!:confused3

IF the smell is still there, try doing the laundry ( hand washables) for a week or so, I've also heard that if you use your hands to prepare other food ( like maybe dinners for a few days) that will help also...Good Luck :thumbsup2

Ok, DreamCruiser100, trying out your suggestion of preparing other food.

Got some fish and I rubbed my hands all over those smelly ol' things!!! Now all I have is a combination fish / vinegar smell!!! The cats get a whif of the fish smell and start running to me................then they get a whif of the vinegar smell and they stop dead in their tracks!!!!:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Too funny to watrch!!! Now my hands reek of fish and vinegar!!!! I give up!!! So..........when we board the ship in December and you see me...............you'll probably smell me coming first...............don't be surprised of my fragrance!!!:confused3 Hey...........maybe I could bottle this smell and make a fortune................whata ya think!!!:thumbsup2

GREAT idea there Trish. The scavenger hunt sounds like a good idea. Kids love those kinds of things. I think you are on to something!!! You could make it pirate themed / cruise themed as well. :thumbsup2

I think the problem here is you are following the WOMEN'S advice.:eek: Remember, you are in the WWMC (World Wide Man's Club):goodvibes:thumbsup2 What you need to do is follow what it says in our Standard Training Guide (pocket sized, paperback edition) from the old days:teacher: BEFORE we had these remotes, computers and cell phones.:badpc:

LAVA SOAP!!!:cheer2: That bar could power through ANYTHING! Dirt, grime, smells, you name it, almost like magic!pixiedust:

Tim, Kevin, me thinks Skye and the ladies on here may have some kind of special glasses that allows them to read our new secret font and yellow color!!! (Where can I get these special glasses!!!)

:scratchin Hmmmmm ... it appears you may be right about them breaking the code. I guess we just need to go back to our Secret Decoder Rings:confused3. Yours is Captain America, right? I have Thor, so they should work well together.

:idea:Maybe we should post in a secret, dead language. (Latin):rolleyes1

:teacher: Posse legere numquam

What do ya think? ::yes::/:sad2:

You have been CAUGHT!!! Now we know who does the dishes in your house for sure!!! Because if you had really used the dawn dish washing soap in your dishwasher...you would have had a kitchen flooded with bubbles!!! :rotfl2:

Not that I would know...DH does the dishes in this household. heehee. :thumbsup2

Actually...I can hear him right now... :laundy:

Tim, you are absolutely right!!! I was listening to the ladies............like they REALLY wanted to help me!!! Lava Soap would do the trick..............do you remember Borax Soap??? It was a powder and came in a can. Also, extra heavy duty soap for a MAN'S Hands, and the power to clean even the dirtyest of hands!!! Got to see if I can find that Training Guide - pocket size / paperback edition. Hope DW didn't throw it out!!!! Thanks for the reminder there Tim!!!:thumbsup2 You are a life saver!!!

I ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:scared:............uuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:scared::scared:............aaaaaaaaaa:scared::scared::scared:...................the Dawn we use is a special made formula for the dishwasher.........uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, yeah that's it..............a special formula for the dishwasher. Right Tim & Kevin???? It's the no bubble formula!!!! "Cleans like the regular Dawn but without the bubbles. A magic cleaning formula that uses a powerful cleaning agent and Cuts Grease too for the dishwasher!!!" I copied that right off the bottle!!! It's so new...............it may not be in your area yet. I think they are just testing it out only here in Florida!!!! Tampa Bay area only!!!! In fact, I think we may have the one and only bottle of it!!!! Yeah I'm sure of it!!!:thumbsup2

Have no fear I am here..........

I remember Borax, 20Mule team power. That was good stuff. You must have the only bottle. I tried that once, lets just say it is a easy way to mop the floor. Not only were the dishes clean but so was the kitchen floor:rotfl2:

About a month to go before we can start booking excursions. :cool1::cool1:

That means it is getting closer:beach::beach::beach:

Hey everybody.....................IT"S KEVIN!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

You remember 20 Mule Team Borax Soap too!!! (I was afraid I would be the only one!!!) Lava soap is an old one too. But Tim knew about it. Do they still make these two soaps???:confused3

Just counted it up on the ol' calendar on the wall. We have 6 weeks to go, after this week, before we can start booking excursions!!!:cool1::cool1: The 16th of September, when we can start booking excursions, is on a Sunday. So that means Saturday night at mid-night all of us will be on DCL's website booking our excursions, and finalizing our cruise plans. DW will have already given me my instructions on bookings. She will be sawing logs..........snoring........I mean...........getting her beauty rest, while I stay up to all hours of the night trying to get thru to book everything!!!! (Why me.............why is it always me!!! I need all of the beauty sleep I can get!!!:sad2:)

Hi all!

I have spent several hours going thru these posts from the beginning and I am up to page #100 - wow! Only 30+ pages to go....You all sound so fun!

I wanted to get on here now, after I found out about DIS from our DVC membership rep, who was telling me about Fish Extenders. There is more to cruising with Disney than what meets the eye :cool2:

I hope I get the lingo right...let me know!!
DW=wife
DH=hubby
DD=daughter
DS=son
DDBF=daughter's boyfriend

Some of our family has done Carnival cruises, but not DCL, so the 12/15/12 Fantasy will be our first. There's me, the DW, then there's the DH (who will love to see the cool gun pics), the DD23, the DS20, and possibly a DDBF22.

To LuvEeyore (Lee): Please add us to the FE and the ME. Now that I am registered on DIS, I will sign up for the Cruisers website on google too. I will send you a message to add me to the FB group.
To ibouncetoo: Please add me and DD23 to the Ooh LaLa Champagne pink ladies

To anyone: What is the MVMCP being held on 12/14?

I will read the rest of the posts, and hopefully I won't repeat myself or make you repeat yourself:rotfl:

Could my husband stop by and visit the Worldwide Man Club? I think he'd have fun with it.

What you guys have written is great! Adds a touch of pixiedust: to my mornings. :) Thanks.

I think my DH would have fun with this too. Can it include adult DS20?

sorry I have been incommunicato for the last few days. I will be slow to answer next week as well. The nurse I am by profession has been that at home. My sister in law had surgery last week and developed an allergy to the dressing materials. So this week, I've been helping her and today we went to the doctor to have the inscision looked at. She is doing great...sleeping from the benadryl. next week my brother has a surgery consult and I see my nuerootologist(killing two birds with one stone-his consult is with the same person so we are being seen at this same time.)

I have read all the pm's and I will respond indiviually in the next few days. I have gotten requests to be added to the fe list and that is on the to do list for tomorrow.

I have gotten some questions that everyone may be asking or interested in the answers so here they are.

The FE groups will be as you have them. They will grow until they get to 20-25 families each.

People may fall off your group if their plans change(you will see a change in the next listing because of that.) Your current grouping will not change otherwise.

For those of you that want to do everyone, You may do so. That I am leaving up to the individual families.

For Secret Mickey, I am trying to assign you a family not in your FE group. The family you have will probably not be the family that has you for Secret Mickey. You will know who that is just by assignment if I make it that easy.

For those participating in Secret Mickey and FE, you may want to sign it your gifts through out the week as such as the person receiving the gifts will know it is Secret Mickey not FE gifts.

Hope this helps.

I do hope that even though I just joined both DIS and this cruise group today, I won't be left out from meeting the other members that I've read about, all the way from the beginning of the post, now that the groups have been formally created for the FE.....:sad:

Welcome! Thus far DCL has been our only cruise line, but I imagine that will change in the not-too-distant-future!

We are soooo looking forward to this cruise. We are planning Palo brunch, and I think at least doing Remy for dinner. Not sure about Palo dinner right now. I can't believe it will soon be time for platinum/concierge to start their online check-in!!!

School starts for our oldest Monday, and three weeks later for our pre-k dd. I start the 25th, and DH starts teaching the middle of Oct. Thankfully we can all finish up before Dec 14!

I am in the midst of planning a going-away party for one of my best girlfriends. She is moving to OR the wek before Labor Day, so we are getting some things lined up to have a great time of celebrating our friendship. I don't know what the deal is...two of my five closest friends are moving within 5 weeks! I'm gonna need a drink or two on this vacation for sure! I won't be getting out as much as I used to. :sad2:

We're staying a couple of days before and 5 days after the cruise. This is a new adventure all around. Staying at the Art of Animation and on board the Fantasy, we're also doing MVMCP for the first time too woohooo!! :thumbsup2
Dee

Wish we could stay...DD23 works in retail...lucky we can get her at all :goodvibes
