December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

CNKTRUITT:

We stayed at the Radisson last year and at the Country Inn and Suites, just last month. A lot of people like the CIS because it is new and you get free continental breakfast and it's close to the port. We did like it. The pool and hottub were nice and the rooms were fairly new and clean. The Radisson is older but the pool is lovely and it has a slide and waterfall. I think I prefer the Radisson for the pool atmosphere and tiki bar. But I would stay at CIS again too. Can't go wrong with either. Go for whichever you can get the best price. Both are about 5 minutes to the port.

I think you can also get a "Kids' Suite" room at CIS where there are bunk beds and a TV in a separate sleeping area for them!!

Suite style is best as my hubby is flying in from Afganistan for this trip. :hug:Kids, ya know......:rolleyes1

Welcome to the group. And a welcome home in advance to hubby.

No hotel help as this is our first time to PC as well.

Do either of those hotels shuttle you to the port for free?

If you are driving, there is a Park and Cruise option to leave your vehicle there. Otherwise, IIRC, there is a $4 per person fee to ride the shuttle. I am not sure if that is each way or round trip.

We won't be driving. In fact, we are trying to figure how we are going to get to Port Canaveral without using the Disney Bus. If we get a car service to drop us at a hotel in Port Canaveral the night before the cruise, I wasn't sure if the hotels would shuttle us for free to the Port.

Well, how ya'll doing?!? Been busy, busy, busy at work. Can't wait until I am back to my part-time position:cool1::cool1::cool1:.

Eacdabny, from my understanding several of the hotels close to the port do have shuttle service to the port. Not sure which ones though. If you do a search I'm sure you could find one that you like. Good luck.:thumbsup2

Hello everyone!! I hope all had a great Thanksgiving and werent too tired from Black Friday.

I am starting to look at day before options and when to travel etc. If calender forWDW holds true to the last couple of years, the Friday night before we sail is MVMCP, Anyone thinking about doing it and then going to port on Saturday morning?

Would love to know what you all think both pros and cons of the idea. Just so you know who all I am talking about. Mom 77 with early alzheimers, me, and 2 18 yearolds who will be seniors in HS when we sail.

Thanks
Lee

LuvEeyore - It depends on everyone's energy level. You and the two 18 yr. olds would probably be fine, but I'm thinking that doing MVMCP the night before sailing MIGHT be exhausting for your mom unless you guys sleep in the next morning and arrive at the port later. I'm just judging from my experiences with my own mom. :)

I can understand the busy, busy, busy part. It is looking like my next day off is going to be Christmas Eve. Have lots of Dreams to deliver before the end of the year. Had a good Thanksgiving, went to a friends house. No cooking no cleanup:thumbsup2. Trust you all had a good Thanksgiving also.

I had weird computer glitchy stuff happen.......so I couldn't "quote" a reply to LuvEeyore the normal way......:surfweb:

I was completely exhausted by noon Friday but it was SoooooMuchFun!

And if you knew me at all you would understand that to be very odd:confused3

My mom who is 72 would be excited and probably be able to stay awake longer than me. They next day however she would sleep in and take a long, long nap. We pulled some late nights over summer and she had more fun than she expected:cool1:

Thanks

Hey NWDad,
You might want to tell your wife this in person before you mention it on the boards! Just kidding, I knew of the possibility, but it just sounds so depressing seeing it here in print as I have just been taking it one weekend at a time.

Don't feel too sad for us as he is guaranteed (usually- this year I have doubts) to be off from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day.

And if he has to work then, all the more excuse to get the vacation next year!!!!!:santa:

Hope everyone is having a good week.
Skye

Okay feel sad for us/me now. I just got the call that he has to work between Christmas and New Year's. This is pretty big as the plant usually shuts down between them.

I'm not telling the kids though.:scared1: Maybe they won't notice?

or if they decide to be absolutely miserable we can always do :teacher: now and get out of school earlier instead, hmm, that might work.

We hope to leave for our winter home near Port Canaveral soon. I have been quite sick so we have postponed our drive down there. IF anyone is planning a get together at DW or at the port let us know and we will see if we are able to join you.

Kevin..................Dude, sorry to hear you have to work thru the holidays. Holidays should be spent with family. But it will be nice next year when you are doing the back2back cruises!!! DW and I usually take some time off around Christmas. We didn't do that this year..............wishing we had though. It is nice being home. My 3 best places to be are 1) Home / 2) Disney Cruise and 3) Walt Disney World!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Happy Goofy, sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Get better soon.
DW, our granddaughter and myself will be at WDW for about 2 days before our cruise next year. We plan on staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge again, like we did before the cruise we took this past September. If anyone wants to meet up before the cruise we are open to meeting up wherever is convenient for everyone.:yay:
