December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

Kevin's been being a good doobie and working hard.
(Note the Romper Room reference-I also remember parts of Howdie Doodie)

He just got told from work that they opened the Overtime Faucet full wide.
Having a last quarter push getting out some more airplanes before year end.

If you have heard of Football widows-- this is airplane widows-- or as I call it-- going to spend time with the mistress-- the big huge mistress-- a 787, well actually three of them I am told, lol.

So now we will be able to have money to put the doggies in the doggie vacation ranch during our cruise. The one that their doggie neighbor goes to daycare once a week. Yippee! They'll have friends and have fun so we won't feel guilty.

Awwwww, come on now, you folks are way to young to remember these kinds of shows!!! What's the names of these shows??? "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood." (As I unbutton my sweater.) "Hi Ho Silver and Away!!!" - "Kitty, Doc and Mr. Dillion" - "As You Cross Over into another Dimension, You cross over to the ----------" - "Forever let Us Hold His banner High - High - High - High" I'm sure you will probably get these if you remember Howdy Doody!!

Ahhhhh over time - the ol' OT! I remember those days. Done my fair share of the overtime!!! The extra money coming in always did help out. I'm back to working full time until the end of the year. I semi- retired at the first of the year. Was just working 7 hours a day for 3 days a week. Then the ol' bossman ups and retires, (he saw how much fun I was having!!!) So the owner asks me to come back full time in August this year to train my replacement and the new supervisor. (Both slow learners , I might add!!!) On Jan 1, 2012 I'm back to 7 hour days 3 days a week Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - get a 4 day week-end each and every week-end!!!!:woohoo:

Romper stomper tell me true....

Oh gosh - I remember Howdy Doody, Romper Room, Bozo, etc., etc.....

In Black and White no less. I can see we are going to have a great time on the cruise. I also want to thank you all for the laughs today. I sure did need them.

Kevin

Oh, and don't forget Mr. Green Jeans, Bunny Rabbit - and for anyone in the Boston area - Boomtown with Rex Trailer.

And my favorite show was Flicker. (loved horses when I was a young girl)

Of course - I am waaaay too young to remember these, right?

What's worse...is that I realize that the birthday I will be celebrating on this cruise is one of the "big" ones...sigh....

Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, The Lone Ranger, (don't know Kitty, Doc, and Mr. Dillion), Twilight Zone, and Mickey Mouse Club. Loved them all. Other favorites (I Love Lucy, The Electric Company, Welcome Back Kotter, Taxi, the list goes on). I was born 1970 and everyone one in school would kid me regarding Clara Belle on Howdy Doodie, although I don't think I ever saw the show myself. :upsidedow Thanks for the welcome and looking forward to counting down to the cruise. Just put away some more $$$ in our mad money stash :woohoo:

You all have a great weekend!

Holly - You know I am a stickler for details and definitely when it comes to horses, so . . . That was FLICKA, which in Swedish means "little girl" and is also a variant of the Old German word "Farica," meaning "peaceful ruler." That is IF you are referring to the show "My Friend Flicka." I remember all that "trivia" because I named my second horse Flicka. ;)

As for your birthday - You can "celebrate the big one" and I know you will. But you DO have the option of enjoying NOT hitting that age until your real birthday a few days after the cruise ends. Even though my birthday is also in December, I only celebrate on the actual day and that won't be on the cruise. They don't do much except embarrass you with birthday singing anyway, and on my last few cruises there has been so much of that in the dining rooms that it's like half the people are celebrating their birthdays. One at my table celebrated (little cake, singing and everything) and it turned out her actual birthday was 6 months earlier!

To my mind, we ALL have a CRUISE to celebrate! That's what I'll be doing! party:

I'll sort of be "half" celebrating my birthday. (no singing or cakes wanted!) But I do want to feel like I am celebrating it a bit. After all, my birthday kind of gets forgotten because of it being the day it is (insert tiny little violins here). I figure I can celebrate it on board a bit - BUT of course I won't actually BE that old YET... :lmao:

And yes, I was talking about My Friend Flicka. I mess up JUST so you'll come in and post the corrections... ;)

I haven't really thought about it yet...but I will be celebrating my REAL birthday on December 16th. I'd rather do that in private tho - like in my room..or over some fancy drink somewhere :goodvibes

Kitty, Doc, and Mr. Dillion-Gunsmoke!

The good news about OT, besides the money is fhe extra vacation time it builds. Just have to watch how much I work as I not as yong as I use to be.:rolleyes1

Cool, a real birthday on the cruise! I know on the cruiser's list there are several people celebrating birthdays. I know Shari's (Taswira) is just before our cruise, and mine is a few days after.

Let's face it though - it IS a celebration just to be on the ship!

One of the big ones - 29 is not one of the big ones as i remember!!!

ALRIGHT! You guys got them alright!!! Ya'll get straight A's! (Did I see some whispering going on amoungest the ranks? Passing notes back and forth - trying to get the answers to the questions???) I got my eye on you guys!!!

Sounds like you work for a nice organization Kevin. I never got any extra vacation time. Just the extra money. But that is why I worked the OT anyway - for the extra money. But those days are now behind me - (in fact as I turn around and look behind me there seems to more behind me then there use to be!!!):scared1::scared1::scared1: How long has that big thing been there!!!!:confused3

Our daughter's birthday is after the cruise by a few days. Her unofficial 11th birthday party is on the cruise.

When we were looking at cruises, she wanted us to take the cruise on her birthday, which would have been the next weeks cruise- most expensive cruise of the year! She understands the word expensive and is being very understanding about it.

So she is celebrating hers as loudly as she can and as big as she can. Feel free to wish her a happy birthday and make a big deal over it.

Of course, when you are young birthdays are important!
Skye

And the reason Kevin saw everythng in black and white has nothing to do with age. His parents didn't get a color television until he was in high school as they thought color tv was a phase.

More trivia:
1. How many different Mickey Mouse Clubs have there been?
Name a famous mouseketeer from each one.

2. Name the movie where the return of "The Yellow Perile" was feared by a family.

3. Featured Irish Setters as the main stars.

and an easy one
4. Who is Kevin Corcoran?

When you are turning 11, birthdays are so very, very important indeed! Our daughter will be turning 12 a few days before this cruise. She is busily planning her 11th birthday party right now and, of course, the world should celebrate with her! Her birthday is the 12th of December so we won't be sailing on her "actual" birthday but I guarantee there will be no doubt that Laura will be celebrating her birthday while on board :lmao:

I hope your daughter and Laura meet up and share some birthday dessert!

Linda

Skye,

Is your daughter's birthday on Christmas Day?

On the 26th, which is somehow worse. She keeps trying to have her party on her actual day and it gets the worst possible attendance ever, as in complete no-shows.

Could be because it is over the school break and the friends forget to tell their parents or the parents mentally put it off for later as it is past the crucial date of the 25th.

We tried the rescheduled birthday in January, but it is just not the same.

She is looking forward to being old enough for sleepovers when she hits double digits. I have a sneaky suspicion we might have great success with attendance if we have it between Christmas and New Year's Eve (free babysitting for the parents)

I thought my dd was the only one planning parties months in advance!!
Then again, maybe they get it from us- how far away is our cruise again?

We should have a group "Unbirthday Party" for dessert.

I don't know. Mine is Christmas Day, so it always got lost in the shuffle. Never had a birthday party when I was kid. Though my ex-mother-in-law surprised me one day in the middle of June with a party. She said everyone had to have a 21st birthday party, and thought doing it on my "half" birthday would be fun. It was! :goodvibes

Now, I don't mind so much as I figure that means I am not getting older, right? :rotfl::rotfl:

Love it - an "unbirthday party"!

I always had cake and gifts ON my actual birthday when I was growing up, but I never had a party because I don't like that kind of attention focused on me. Holly - Remember my B'day at Garden Grill? That's about as "party" as I get for birthdays - LOL. Give me a couple of QUIET chipmunks and I'm happy!

Everyone is free to celebrate whatever they like, whenever they like. I just recall how bad it was in the dining room on my last cruise. It's like EVERY table seemed to have a cake and singing going on. It was my ACTUAL birthday but I declined the cake and singing because it was already too darned noisy in there. My server understood and remarked that for most of those people it was nowhere near their birthdays. I don't know if they can tell from the KTTW or other info, or if people just admitted it (like the one at my table with the B'day 6 MONTHS earlier!). I heard one server joke that they should probably set a cake at each place setting and all start singing in unison. :rotfl2:

Nah - I'd be more apt to have a quiet celebration with cake in my stateroom if I wanted to celebrate, but yeah, that's just me! party:
