December 14/15th...am I being redundant?

So, it's been awhile. We are in AZ & like to visit Jan/Feb to beat the crowds. But all of this hullaballoo about an empty park has me wondering if it might follow into early December? Haha. Maybe?

My daughter graduates (walks, actually. Diploma to follow in May after her internship) from college on December 13th. We were kind-of-sort-of-maybe thinking of high tailing it Anaheim for an impromptu celebration at the parks. My teen would miss school for 2 days If we did this. The reason this makes sense is my daughter will be at the mercy of work/internship come January. So I was trying to cram it in before that became a thing.

For perspective - I LOOOOVE 20 min or less wait times & MaxPass is my favorite invention ever. Not fans of Star Wars - the kids are curious but it wouldn't "make" the trip for us.

Are we crazy if we scoot our behinds over for a weekend in December?

*Side note - I remember when I was on here ALL THE TIME when my kids were small - older kids make theme parks a breeze, it seems. :)

I would do it BUT I would count on the parks being packed. I don’t see his summer magic extended to through the magical DLR Holiday Season.

The parks aren't exactly empty now: Just FYI, it is NOT low crowds anymore, Disneyland was very busy last weekend 8/17-8/18. They're not super packed, but the lower AP block has already lifted for Deluxe at DL and will lift for the other two passes soon. By December, the holiday crowds will come to the parks because, hey, it will be Holiday Time at DLR! But don't let that hold you back -- make your plans, expect the parks to be very busy, and have a great trip.

December has no slow days, and the weekends are always pretty crowded. Holiday decorations, special entertainment, and seasonal foods draw a dedicated fan base who come just for the festivities. You can get a lot done with MaxPass and planning on doing a list of park highlights (vs. doing everything).

I feel like crowds have been hard to predict this year. Most of us thought that the parks would be very crowded this summer due to Star Wars Land, but the crowds didn't materialize quite as expected. So it seems like anything is possible with regards to the crowds for the rest of this year. That being said, I wouldn't count on the low crowds from earlier this summer lasting through the holiday season. As mentioned, they're already picking up and will probably continue to trend that way as the AP blockouts end. For the dates you mentioned (December 14 and 15th), only the Signature Plus, Signature, and Flex passes are good on those days, so that might help with the crowds. Still, I wouldn't count on there being low crowds at any point in December. That being said, I think with MaxPass and the right frame of mind, it's still possible to have a great trip even if the crowds are higher than you'd like.
