So we are already book at BLT for Dec 17-24, 2011.:santa: We were at Disney this past Dec in AKV and had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas Disney style. The only negative to our trip is that it was sooooo cold. It was ok during the day but freezing during the night. We just kept it in our heads that it was still warmer than home (OHIO). We are now trying to decide if we should change our plans:surfweb: and go in March 2012 instead during DD(7)princess: spring break.:flower3: Both weeks are during her school break so that is not a factor. We were thinking though if we go in March we would get to swim, as there was no swimming in Dec because it was way to cold. I'm not sure what all there is to do in March but there are lots of extra activities in Dec. We are DVC owners so we of course would use more points if we went in March, but that is OK. Any help and suggestions would be wonderful to help us decide what to do.:goodvibes

We too had our first family trip this past December. I'm with you...it was coooold! We have another trip scheduled for the end of March 2011 and have our fingers crossed that it will be warmer. I get enough cold weather living in the midwest I don't want to spend my vacations shivering!
Looking forward to the responses you receive!

I have gone in December for 6 or 7 years. It was my favorite time. But the last couple of years have been just too cold. My favorite things to do in December are all night things and being so cold really takes away a lot of the fun. So we have decided not to go in December, 2011. So, if I were in your shoes, I would go in March. If it is early March you might still get a cold snap but your odds are better than December.
Good luck!

I think that you should try March. You will certainly have a much better chance of swimming and may be able to enjoy the parks longer if it is not so cold outside.

We have gone twice in early December (just for a long weekend) and I love seeing all the holiday decorations but it too was a bit cold for Disney, especially since we are usually there in July or August when the heat is overwhelming.

Good luck!

Unless you are planning on lake view at BLT for December, you probably wouldn't get it anyway.

But if swimming is your plan, go in March.

I suggest March. We've been to Disney the same week you are referring to each year for the past 3 years. We're finally a bit tired of the cold weather and may take more spring or late fall trips. :flower3:

I would go for March. The Flower & Garden Festival in Epcot is great.

I'd try March this time.

I love Disney in Christmas, but it is okay seeing it every other year and enjoying the weather/swimming every other year too :)

If you went in March 2012 then in Dec 2012.. using 2 UY of points an AP might save you some $$ too :)

We were at AKV during the week before Christmas this past year and I agree - it was way too cold. So cold in fact that I'm not sure we would attempt it in December again. We have never been in March, but usually go for my children's spring break, which is always the first week in April. The weather is great - warm enough to swim during the day and cool enough in the evenings for a light sweatshirt. I would go for March, if I were you. :thumbsup2
