We are joining you! How old are the children in your group? My husband and I have two girls, 12 & 7, and also joining us will be my MIL and my SIL:eek:. It will either be a wonderful experience or a hair-pulling one, but either way, the final payment has been made and there is no turning back now!:D

ahhh - boohoo -
when you guys are embarking they'll be pulling me off the ship!!

We are very excited too! Just made the shore excursion ressies today. Already "staging" the packing area.:)
Just myself, my dh, and our 12 yo son.

myself , wife, dd 14 yo and ds 8yo..plus their grandmother and 14yo cousin.....having trouble deciding on jeep tour/chakanaab/orjust beach (Playa Sol)?????????????????

you can make shore excursion ressies now. Just call DCL at the number listed on the shore excursion form and let them know your confirmation number and what shore excursions you want.

Marcus...we went with the San Gervasio ruins/beach tour this time. We have been to Playa SOl before and it is nice, but to take it for five hours is a bit much.:) Also, the jeep tour looked fun (but pricey), except I have heard it is VERY rough and I have a (healing) broken foot, so we passed on that as well. The beach break does offer a buffet lunch and free drinks the whole time and there is PLENTY to do at Playa Sol. Just a thought. As far as Chankanaab, we have done that on our own before and saved money. It is nice, but the beach areas are not as nice as PS.

Thanks for the reply Ismac...question.. is it worth/easy enough to go to Playa Sol for a few hours then over to Chankanaab to snorkel only..or not worth it (ie..just snorkel at Playa Sol)..Never heard of San Ge...where you are going
Thanks
Marcus

Marcus,
You are welcome!
San Gervasio are some of the better known (?) ruins around Coz...I had never heard of em either til I started researching.:)
They are Mayan, I believe.

You can snorkle at Playa Sol and it is pretty good there. We went two years ago and snorkled there and saw all kinds of fish, including a HUGE manta ray...my ds walked on water that day! LOL

I wouldn't pay for the admission to BOTH Chankanaab and Playa Sol, I would do either/or, but that is just my opinion. They both have their merits. BTW, they are pretty close to each other...I believe within a mile or so.

My wife, sister-in-law and I are all looking forward to 12/7/02. We're staying at the BCV's the night before and then doing MVMCP that evening.

Made reservations for the Jeep safari.

We made the resevations over a year ago.
Counting down the days.

thanks..probably will do the cozumel beach day (playa sol ) through disney...Mr Sanchos seems like it gets a lot of thumbs up also

of course will do the stingray city in caymen and after that probably 7 mile beach on our own (is it worth it)?

thanks lisa, marcus

I can't wait, it is myself DH (both of us 40) and DS 9.5 years. We are still undecided about cozumel. I was leaning towards Cozumel ruins and beach tour but now think we might just take a cab to Mr. Sanchos. Ann

I keep going back and forth about the San Gervasio ruins/beach excursion. It looked good to me but then I got some poor feedback on it. Did you find any websites that went into it at all? Our son in 9.5 and will have to do a trip report for school so I thought that would give him some info but then I was told it was hot and boring.. yikes! what to do? in fairness I ony heard from that one person that it was bad but she was pretty adament. Ann

Actually, I read about it on other cruise boards. Every report I read was positive, then I asked the gal at Dreams when I called to make final payment about it and she was giving it the nod. Finally, I asked the gal at DCL when I called to book the excursions which she would choose between that and just going to Playa Sol and she said that the San G ruins are second only to Tulum and although, not too extensive, they are about 10 acres of stuff and very interesting. You can check out some things about it at: www.cruisediva.com and go to her section on Ports of Call. My son has to do a report on it as well, so I wanted to put a little "education" into the trip.:) I don't think it will be nearly as hot in December, if that helps? PM me if the link doesn't work or you need more info.
Lisa

Hi Lisa, I looked at that page and maybe I am doing it wrong as I only saw a small quote on San Gervasio. I really wanted to go there but still am concerned that there is not much to see. Could you tell me where you saw cruise reports on San Gervasio so I could check them out? thanks Ann

For anyone interested I just found this web site that has a bunch of San Gervasio Ruins photos on it, I hope this works to insert it:
http://members2.clubphoto.com/norman203788/36265/guest_icons.phtml

It certainly is not as impressive as Tulim but I would not exactly call it a "pile of rocks" I will show DH and son when they get home and see if they want to go or not. ann

This site has a lot of info about Coz and the page I linked includes San G and what to do with kids!
Hope it helps! Hey, if you decide to do this, we will be on the same excursion and our sons can keep each other company!:)
