Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Favorite Foods

Me - I love fresh fruit, sourdough bread, and my non-dessert, guilty pleasure is Cheetos!!!

DH - He loves any type of bread, steak, chicken, and Mahi Mahi.

I can't remember who said that their daughter liked Mahi Mahi but she will love the cruise and all of the fun food. On our last cruise, our son even tried escargo. Of course, it was to impress a girl, but he actually swallowed!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Carmie - nice fish extender. I wouldn't even know where to begin and it looks great. Sewing is just not one of my talents.:rolleyes1

Have a great night!

Ok I need to look into this! Are any of you guys going for a suite on the ship or considering an upgrade at the terminal? We will be in a cat 9 forward! I know it's crazy expensive but if they have availability and we can play lets make a deal I would do and just it as my 10 year wedding anniversary!(which is what the cruise is suppose to be for anyway):rotfl:
From what I've read, upgrades at the terminal are difficult to get because most DCL cruises sail full. If you have any chance at all you have to be one of the first people there in the morning.

We're in a cat 9 aft. I would love an upgrade and hoping for a free one but not counting on it. Don't know if I'd pay for one, it just depends on how much. We originally booked a 10 but then I changed to a 9 because I at least want some sunlight.

And congrats on your 10 yr anniversary! We were at WDW last year the week before our 13th and it was sorta like an anniversary trip. Since MIL was there, it gave DH and I a chance to go out by ourselves one evening.

Thanks! Didn't think I could sew either and this was actually easy. Don't think I could do anything more advanced though :goodvibes

Gotcha:thumbsup2 This will be the first year where we have not done the Land and Sea thing. We always do the resort first and when it's time to get on the ship we are already checked in so this will be a first flying in and going straight to the ship! So I will contemplate if it's worth getting there super early to try.

Thank You so much! We dated for 5 years then married in Dec 99!

So what is everyone thinking they will be doing on this cruise? I am still trying to pick them out. What is everyone thinking!

I think we're just going to take it easy. We'll let the kids play in their respective areas, but just relax on our part in the adults areas of the ship and Castaway Quay. That being said, we may go shopping in St. Thomas. I've been to both St. Thomas and St. Croix before and St. Croix basically had the Cruzan rum factory and once is enough. We're not big shoppers, we'd rather save up for our next cruise again;)

We're going to rent a car on St. Thomas and definitely go to Magen's Bay and some other places too (we have them listed somewhere). I know that Disney offers excursions there but I know we can do it cheaper on our own and still have the freedom of the rental car. If we can survive a rental in Jamaica, I think we can survive renting in St. Thomas.

As far as St. Croix, not sure yet what we'll do. We'll probably rent a car too but haven't decided on any particular places to visit yet. Our neighbor was born in St. Croix and said that it has become very industrialized and "not as fun to visit as the other V.I."

St. Croix is home to the largest Oil Refinery in the Western Hemisphere. You can see it quite easily in Google Earth.

Yes, it is very industrialized.

Well then I am staying on the boat! Maybe a small excursion to a beach that would have us back on the boat by noon. It is so awesome to be on the boat when everyone else is gone!

I want to go to St. John to Mongoose Junction- a shop called Caravan Gallery. Just have to figure out the best way to get there. I also want to go to the Cruzan distillery. I know everyone says it's not all that but I'm a Kenny Chesney fan so it's kind of mandatory...LOL We want to go snorkeling someplace but haven't decided where yet.:dance3:

I was in St. Thomas for work, so unfortunately I did not get much touring in. As far as I know however, the best way to St. John is via St. Thomas.

Ya and by the way, 'My Tractor is Sexy Too!' I just don't know which song he has that mentions Cruzan Rum.:confused3

LOL Cruzan is the sponsor of his tour and just for a little trivia the songs Key Lime Pie and Old Blue Chair have Cruzan in them.

My DH(33), DD(1), DM(53), and myself(30) will be taking this cruise as our first cruise. We have been Disney World several times (DH and I even honeymooned there) but have never cruised. I thought what better way to enter the cruise world than with Disney. Hopefully swine flu won't affect what could be a great vacation.

Welcome DeeSan!!

It's going to be a great time!

Don't worry about the swine flu. The only swines you'll see are people like me eating like a pig at the dinner buffets!

So, where do you call home?

Be on the lookout here for the questions of the week. It's a great way for us all to get to know each other better.

I'll probably be right there with you pigging out:rotfl: My DH, DD, and I call Atlanta home. DM calls Savannah, GA home. I see you're from Ontario...been to Windsor, Ontario and crossed over the bridge at Niagara Falls. Both times were during early spring. It was way too cold for this Georgia girl. I bet you love the warmth of the Carribean during December.

I bet you love the warmth of the Carribean during December.

There are many out there who believe that if people were supposed to live in the cold north, the good Lord would have given us fur. Personally I don't believe that so it's not the warmth I'm particularly looking for. I love the vacation idea and getting away, but I love white Christmas and snow, and skiing etc. I pull my kids to school on their toboggan in the winter and I love it. I work outdoors in the winter and have gotten to love all the seasons here.

With all the insanity of my work, this board is the only thing keeping my sanity as we get ever closer to the fun.

Speaking of the buffet, we go onto the cruise as passengers, we come off as cargo so watch out!

Hello Everyone

Remember me? Well, anyway, I have not visited for a while; figuring I should wait a while til this board was hot with responses...I see that it has come to fruition...Well anyway, my family and I are on this cruise as well...I was raised on the Island of St. Croix and still have family members living there...So, that is how i will spend my time...visiting my old house where i lived and some family members as well...a family member is getting married in June of this year and my husband and I, without the kiddies, will probably be heading that way...that way we will be in St. Croix twice in one yr...I cannot wait...anyway...back to work i go...talk to you all later. Oh, I will keep in touch...bye everyone

Hi everyone, we're back online again! Apparently a Verizon crew was in the nieghborhood installing some new lines and they cut through the main Comcast line, which is our internet provider. They just covered up the hole and left, leaving many of us without internet access for awhile.

Glad to see the board is still active. Have I missed any questions of the week?

I assume DM is mom? If so great! Mine will be cruising too, her first one. We can get them together.

Hey everyone! Well, we're closing in on 7 months! I just booked our WDW stay yesterday! I couldn't decide on time before or time after so I did a little of both. We'll be staying at POP Dec 2-5 and then again Dec 12-17. My mother in law will be flying in on Dec 12 to meet the kids and I since hubby has to return to work. She went for the first time with us last fall and really enjoyed it. I can't believe that I'll be enjoying Disney Fun for 2+ straight weeks. I'm so excited
