Starting to plan our 1st Christmas trip to WDW it's DH, myself, DD7 and DS4 we will be taking our DD out of school for a week (1st grade). Trying to decide between the first full week of December (the week immediately following thanksgiving) or the third week of December. I know the closer to Christmas we get the crazier our schedule is at home but I also know the MK Christmas tree won't be up til after the parade is taped so wondering if we will regret not seeing everything. Probably won't plan another Christmas visit for years.

Opinions please.

I'm pretty sure that they start decorating for Christmas in November, so either week you go in December you should see everything Christmasy. We will be there in November and I know that the Osborne Lights in Hollywood Studios will already be up!

One suggestion. If you are staying for 7 days, I would buy park tickets for only 6 of those days. For the 7th day, I would buy tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It is only held on specific dates when the MK closes early to all guests who don't have a ticket. They say it starts at 7pm, but they usually let you in earlier. We went a few years ago and came in at the time the ticket said and the cast member told us we could have entered as early as 4pm. I think your children will like it. Characters are in their Christmas attire and cookies and hot chocolate are served. It's worth checking out!

So glad to see this thread pop up. I was planning on heading to Disney for my birthday this year (12/3), but I got to a point where I felt like the trip wouldn't be what I want for a Disney birthday, because I ran out of time to plan it properly, and my money situation isn't where I would like it to be, so we're going to hold off and do it BIG next year. I'm already counting down the days!
