Dec 2011 Dining Review- "I'm Pregnant with a FOOD Baby!"- Complete 6/21

After lunch, I got a Cake Pop from the Villains confectionary place. I am not entirely sure what it is called. WOW! This wins best snack of the trip!!! I got a red velvet Cake Pop covered in white chocolate.

1240.jpg

It was this dense, moist red velvet cake, covered in white chocolate, two marshmallows for the ears and Mickey sprinkle heads on it. It was just really good. The last day I brought one covered in milk chocolate home with me. I had it the next day. It wasn't as great as the first one. Maybe because it was a day old or I think I just liked the white chocolate better.

We had a counter service meal at Pizza Planet for dinner. Pizza was the normal Disney Pizza. I actually don't mind their pizza, I really like the doughiness of the crust. The only thing bad with this is that it was not cut right so I had to rip the pieces apart and thus made it more messy to eat. I like how the meal here comes with caesar salad, it didn't really taste like much, haha, but still was good.
1257.jpg

Dessert here was really good! They just recently switched to a Cappuccino Cupcake instead of the Mickey head rice krispie treat. This was super good!! The frosting was light and fluffy, unlike that gross sickenly sugar frosting that you normally get with the cupcakes. The top had toffee pieces and the cupcake part was light chocolate cake. It was really good and not too sweet.

I just love the look of your cake pop :cloud9:
Pizza Planet looks pretty good as well, we've never tried there before and always stuggle to find decent CS at the Studios so may give it a try :thumbsup2

Great reviews so far! I wish they had that cupcake at Pizza Planet when we went to eat there but we had to go with the chocolate chip cookies and they were not very good. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your reviews.

Loving reading your reviews, great pics!

Subscribing- just read your other two reports. I truly enjoyed them. Looking forward reading more...

Really enjoying this, I always avoid CS at HS (apart from Starring Rolls) but that cupcake sounds special :)

Looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

I always love your food reviews. I'll be at Disney World in a couple of days and I'll definitely be getting the red velvet pop cake. It looks delicious.

Today was our Animal Kingdom day with dinner at 'Ohana.

I love Camp Mickey Minnie with all of the characters dressed up in Christmas gear and the different character trees.
Photo0113FourBySix.jpg

For lunch we went to Flame Tree Barbeque. That is definitely my favorite CS at Animal Kingdom. We had a breakfast reservation at Tusker House but cancelled it due to not wanting to be full or pay extra.

At Flame Tree, I got the Pulled Pork Sandwich with coleslaw. YUM! They changed the bread- it used to be crusty, now it is softer. Much better improvement. In June, the sandwich was soggy, but this time it was not soggy. It was very good with some spicy BBQ sauce on it.
1360.jpg

Also, I really like the coleslaw here. For some reason, it is just really good and refreshing! Corey's dad had three containters of coleslaw! He really liked it as well.

Dessert was the chocolate mousse cup. That is very good. I pour the chocolate liquid out on top because it is very very rich and I don't like that rich of chocolate. It is a syrup like consistency so easy to come off. The mousse is very good, light and fluffy!
1361.jpg

After Animal Kingdom we headed to Wilderness Lodge to take a look around the hotel. Corey's parents were eating at Whispering Canyon so we went with them because we had time to spare as our reservation was at 6:45.
1426.jpg

First, I will post pictures of their meal, which they did not like. They both got the skillet and the white Chocolate Bread Pudding.

They said most of the meat was very tough and fatty, besides the chicken which they really enjoyed along with the mashed potatoes. They both enjoyed the salad which is tossed in an apple vinaigrette. They said the dessert was not good as well. It didn't taste like white chocolate and had a spicy pumpkin taste. They liked the antics though. I won't go there most likely after they didn't like their food.

On the other hand, 'Ohana was great! Delicious as always.

Bread was softer than usual- I feel that is either a hit or miss there!
1427.jpg

Salad was amazing as well. I really love that dressing- I should search for a recipe for it. Even Corey likes that and he doesn't like any dressing besides French.
1428.jpg

The sauce containers were changed. They are now more like ramekins instead of little bowls. The spicy peanut sauce is my favorite!
1430.jpg

We don't touch the wings, but I love the potstickers dipped in the peanut sauce. The outsides are always crunchy, which is a negative, but the inside are very good and flavorful.
1429.jpg

We also don't touch the noodles but the broccoli is so good here. Seriously, the flavor of the broccoli is amazing. They are juicy and really just great!
1432.jpg

Meat was good! Shrimp was a little overdone, steak, and chicken were both good. I don't care for the pork here. It is always overcooked and dry. A couple steak pieces were fatty but you will have that with steak.
1431.jpg

Messy table!

The best part of the meal is the Banana Bread Pudding. They changed the serveware from a bowl to plate, which is stupid because of the ice cream and sauce. I don't know why they put it on a plate now. It is harder to scoop out and it runs off the plate. They also changed the containers for the banana foster sauce. We also got a cupcake, which was nasty.

One of the best parts of our meal was Wishes was on at 8, so we got to hear the music!! I love that music. We had a good table right by the window in front of the castle so we were able to see the fireworks sort of. We kind of had to move away from a pole. I loved that! I love 'Ohana. I want to go back!!!

It was soo good! I don't even think I have been anywhere besides Pizza Planet. it is tradition now!

Great reviews so far! I wish they had that cupcake at Pizza Planet when we went to eat there but we had to go with the chocolate chip cookies and they were not very good. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your reviews.

Thanks for reading. The cupcake def was good!

Thank you so much for reading!!

It was definitely good. I would even just go in for the cupcake!

I'm in! Looking forward to more :goodvibes

Thanks for reading!

If your back, hope your trip was great!!

Next up- Magic Kingdom Day! I can't believe this trip was now over a month ago..It is so sad to look forward to something so much and then have it be over just like that!

I wanted to go to Columbia Harbor House for lunch, having never been there, and with the revamped menu, I had to check it out!;) Everyone else wanted Cosmic Ray's so I was on my own here.

I decided to order the Salmon, Couscous, and broccoli. I needed something healthy and I just felt the Lobster Roll would be too much with all the mayo. I do want to try that someday!

1455.jpg

I don't remember too much about this, other than it was good! The couscous wasn't my favorite- didn't have much flavor at all. The broccoli was good, maybe a little undercooked but not much! The salmon was perfectly cooked and maybe had a sweet/salty soy glaze on top. It was very tasty! Delicious. A+ Lunch!

For dessert I got the Apple Crisp. Now, this dessert has NEVER looked appealing to me. The only reason I got it was because there was nothing else to get here. It always looked hard and flavorless. However, after actually eating this it was delicious. It was soft and very good flavor. The top apples you could tell weren't fresh but there were apples inside that actually tasted fresh. It was very very good.
1456.jpg

After I was done eating my food and Corey and his parents were watching me, it was my turn to watch them eat at Cosmic Rays!

Corey got the chicken sandwhich. He had a big chunk of fat in his so it wasn't the best sandwhich, but nonetheless still nothing that bad about it. I had some of his french fries and they were good! I think that is the only time I have every had Disney french fries. They kind of reminded me of Wendy's fries.
1458.jpg

I ordered something here too, even though I just ate!:) I had the mango gelato, at least that is what it says on the menu. However, it is actually called mango sorbet on the container. It is packaged at a gelato plant in Florida, but i don't remember the name of it. This is the no sugar added option.
1457.jpg

OMG! Wow, this wins best counter service dessert. It was so delicious and refreshing. You can't even tell it is no sugar added. The mango is so fresh it tastes like you are eating straight mango, and I love mangoes! It was so good, seriously. If you have a chance to try this, try it!

Corey got the chocolate gelato. I tried this as well, it was very very rich.
1459.jpg

For a snack later in the day, I got the pineapple dole whip float. I had tried this about three years ago and just got pineapple and I didn't like it. It was too sour and I just didn't really care for it. In June I got the swirl with vanilla in a cup and I liked that much better. The vanilla sweetness cuts in perfectly to the pineapple dole whip. I decided to try the swirl with the pineapple juice. Much better! It tasted so good with the vanilla added in this time. It was very yummy. I like the texture of the pinnaple dole whip. The juice is good at the bottom when it gets icey. The line for the Dole Whip was soo long. We waited about 20 minutes!
1481.jpg

Yummmminess!!! I had already decided I wanted to try CHH and Dole Whip this time, so your post is perfect!!!!

Thanks for your reviews! It will help me when I don't know what I want to eat! But I will definitely hunt down that red velvet cake pop!

Not sure the picture of your salad will copy since I am new to this....but I think the salad in the lower right is red quinoa. It is good to know they have this available if you are gluten free or intolerant to wheat. Also, the noodles you didn't eat, were they rice noodles?

Everything looks delicious...

Nope...just looked, they wouldn't let me post a picture yet :)

'Ohana gets such mixed reviews but we really loved it. Glad you had a good enough experience there.

I am definitely getting one of those cake pops at DHS next time we go :thumbsup2

Next up is Tony's Town Square Theatre for dinner. Our reservation was at 6:35 so we hurried up there after the tree lighting ceremony. We actually got seated rather quickly, I was surprised.

Now, I know Tony's doesn't really get that great of reviews but I really wanted to try it out! I was getting sick of Crystal Palace, didn't want to leave the park, and Liberty Tree doesn't appeal to me. Mostly I wanted to try it for the pistachio creme brulee.

Here is the bread that you got started with.
1516.jpg

She gave us a mound to start off with! That is a lot for two people. It came out with plain olive oil and butter. I wish there was something in the olive oil- maybe like a pepper blend or balsamic. Olive oil just plain isn't good. But it didn't really matter because the bread was soo hard! You had to break the bread in half then dig to try to find soft bread. I am not sure if they are normally that hard. I didn't really care because I didn't want to fill up on that anyways.

For my entree I ordered the grilled Pork Tenderloin with a marsala mushroom sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and vegetables(asparagus)- $19.99.
1518.jpg

This was really good. I cleaned my plate up. The sauce was very flavorful and a good solid marsala sauce. The pork was non fatty and cooked well. The mashed potatoes were good, but they were very very garlicky! Asparagus was good, I love them and can't go wrong with that! All in all my meal was good. It wasn't 5 star quality but still good.

Corey had the NY Strip with potatoes and veggies- $28.99
He enjoyed the steak but that was about it. He wish he would have ordered mashed potatoes. His potatoes were weird- they were like breakfast potatoes not dinner potatoes. The vegetables were not really vegetables. It was the green leafy stuff with a few sweet potato chunks- those were good but I ate them.
1517.jpg

For dessert I ordered the pistachio creme brulee.
1520.jpg

Wow was this good. I think this was my favorite table service dessert the whole we were there. The portion size was a little smaller than i thought from previous pictures(not my hand to reference size). The creme brulee was sooo good! It was the perfect temperature( I like colder), consistency(a little bit harder), and flavor! So good!! I went to the Wishes dessert party in June and they had the same creme brulee which is when I realized I needed to have it again in December

There was a chocolate waffle bowl which was edible, that was good! The bowl had candied pistachios in it which were good, and strawberries, which I put in my creme brulee to eat. Can you tell I loved my dessert?????

Corey had the chocolate gelato! Boring, but he didn't want to eat much. I have nothing to say about this, other than he ate it all!
1519.jpg

The Christmas Party was fun. I think maybe next time I would skip the party though. I love Main Street with the snow and the parade coming through but I think I would rather save the money next time because it is soo expensive!

The cookies this year were snickerdoodle. They were better than last years sugar cookies. I love snickerdoodles and these were no exception. We only got cookies and hot chocolate once! What was wrong with us? Haha.
The cups were sooo plain this year!! Last year they were so cute and actually said Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! This year they just had some ornaments on them. Too generic.
1530.jpg

1531.jpg

All in all, it was a GREAT day of eats at Magic Kingdom. Lunch, Snacks, and dinner were excellent!

Thanks for the review of CHH! We are doing the Keys to the Kingdom Tour on our trip in March, and lunch at CHH is included with the price. It definitely wouldn't be somewhere I would choose for us on our own, but since it's included we don't have much of a choice. But reading that you had some decent food there makes me feel much better about it.

Since Le Cellier is now a 2 credit for dinner, we decided to do lunch here because we could not miss it. It also left room for us to try another dinner at night with Corey's family for dinner.

We checked in about 15 minutes early and got sat 5 minutes after. I was surprised that we got sat so early.

When the server came around, we asked for only pretzel bread. The other bread was not great, so I figured I didn't want to waste them. Pretzel bread is amazing anyways

1629.jpg

I also got a cup of the cheddar cheese soup, which is very good! That soup is so good, it is salty, but it is creamy and smoky at the same time so it just very flavorful. The bread is amazing it is so light and warm and delicious! Yum! I prefer to eat the bread with butter and not dip in the soup as others do.

I ordered the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet. I seriously dreamt about this dish when I got home last year from Disney so I knew I had to get this again.

1631.jpg

I was a little surprised by the size, it was definitely smaller from the dinner size I had before. It was a good size though that did not leave me full and I was glad for that because I had a buffet to attend at night =) The steak was cooked perfectly for me and it was a wonderful cut, with no fat on it. The risotto is still good but I didn't love as MUCH as I loved it last time. I think it is because one of my clients Birds Eye came out with this Green Bean Mushroom Risotto in a steam bag. I had three bags of it in a period of like 2 months before Disney and it is very good, but it is similar to the risotto. I think I got sick of the it so I wasn't enjoying the risotto as much as I did.

Corey had the NY Strip Steak and he subbed the Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes. I tried a bite of the potatoes and they were very good! They were so creamy and you could deifnitely tell that they were sweeter. They were good. He loved his steak!
1630.jpg

We decided we would be good for dessert and only order one dessert! On hindsight I wish we would have ordered two desserts! Two chocolate mousses! It was sooo good!
1632.jpg

the chocolate mousse was so creamy and chocolatey but not in a bitter chocolate way that I don't like. It was cold and jusy delicious with the cookie crumbs on top. I was also surprised at the portion, it was smaller than I thought it would be. The maple cookies for the ears were very good too =) I wish we would have ordered two because I could have ate my own mousse!

Le Cellier was very good this year and we will definitely be back! We have always had fantastic service and the food is good as well.

Great review so far!! My mouth is watering for the filet and soup at Le Celier, but our one and only experience there was dampened by a very crabby 9 month old (yes, ours), so my hubby associates that with the food and won't go back. Maybe one day I'll just have to go without him.
