Dec 15, 2023 not available to add to my reservation?

I have a reservation checking in Dec 12th and checking out Dec 15th. We decided to stay and extra night and want to check out on Dec 16th, but the night of the 15th isn't available. Can that be possible? If I already have the room booked past 11 months? Am I doing something wrong when I try to modify to add the night? TIA

2 possible issues.... with no "shenanigans" on DVC's part A) they are taking a room out of service for a planned renovation or fixed week starts on that day. Since it is a Friday night, I find both of those suspect.... This is not the first time wierd stuff like this has happened. WHen it happened to me and I called MS, I got a line about "another member must have booked to room already". The CM never "understood", I have the night of the 14th, there is no way the 15th can't be available unless you have a fixed week starting on a Friday or planned maintenance 11 months in advance starting on a Friday.....

Depending upon the resort, Fixed Week / Guaranteed Week contracts may also be an issue. If we're talking about a Studio at VGF, Poly, Copper Creek or Riviera (or Aulani) for mid-December dates, that's a distinct possibility.

I'd call member services and see if they can do it for you. If it's really not available, create a waitlist for the one night in 2 days when it opens up at 11 months and you should be able to get it that way without much trouble.

If it’s CCV it’s definitely guaranteed weeks. There’s a couple nights that week blocked. High chance they become available in the coming hours/day, so keep checking. People are walking reservations.

True, but 12/15 is getting awfully close to where walkers start to sit down too. Good advice to keep checking though, as some will continue on to week 52. Those guaranteed weeks are a killer there, very glad we're owners at BRV.

Yes. It seems a few walkers are aiming that week. These past two days some days of the current booking week have become available, so people are modifying reservations.

I think the walkers run up against the guaranteed weeks too.

As someone who owns a guaranteed week contract at Riviera, it always begins & ends on a Sunday. I assume other resorts with GWs also have it begin & end on Sundays, but I don't know for sure. And I distantly remember them offering some GWs around events like a race weekend, but I don't know the details of those, and I don't think they've offered those in some time.

It does seem quite strange that if you've already booked multiple nights at the 11 month + length of stay point, but can't modify to add one additional night. I don't think that you're blocked by a GW by trying to add a Friday night stay. I'd guess that either something is wonky with the website (maybe try a different web browser or device, or try in an incognito/private browser), or that a room is scheduled to be taken out of inventory for maintenance. I'd recommend checking the website frequently today and tomorrow, and try contacting member services tomorrow if it isn't letting you get the additional night.
