Hi,

I am a member of a credit union and my debit card is not backed by a major credit card. It works at Wal-mart, my local grocery store (A & P), Eckerds Drugs, but I was wondering if it will work at Disney. Anyone else have experience with this?

TIA,
Rhonda

Really don't think so. I believe they have to have some type of credit card logo on them. But I could be wrong.

If it doesn't have a Visa or MC logo on it, I'm afraid you won't be able to use it at Disney. I could be mistaken, and if I am someone please speak up. :teeth: Sounds to me like you just have a good old fashioned ATM/debit card, not a debit/credit card.

Tiggerlover is correct. The reason people want to use (and merchants want them to use) debit cards is because of the Visa/Mastercard logo. The merchant doesn't have to have yet another system to scan cards. They use the same merchant services carrier and can take anything with the V/MC logos and not have to worry about having a pin pad and extra equipment. The reason some places like Wal-mart and Eckerd take the cards w/out logos is because they also take "Foodstamp" cards. Our is called Louisiana Purchase card and those who use them have a pin they must key in to use the card to pay for the food or whatever purchased. Merchants don't take paper foodstamps any more so they have to use the pin pads. The foodstamp cards use the same system as do ATM cards (Pulse, Star, Plus, etc) and therefore, you may also use your ATm or non-logo debit card. Unless Disney accept these foodstamp cards, which I doubt, they probably aren't set up to do pin-based transactions. Hope this wasn't too wordy for a simple answer, but I wanted to explain the difference so you'd know in the future. Check with your Credit Union b/c more are beginning to offer the logo cards.

I work at a credit union and the one I work at and the one me and DH bank with both offer debit cards..........check with your CU because they may have them now!!!!

Years ago my credit union here did not have the Visa logo on it, and we had a heck of a time finding an ATM machine that took it at Disney..Luckily the one at Publix market did. Ours now has the Visa logo and we have no trouble with it at all....Check with your credit union, possibly they have some with them now..good luck!!!
