I just went out to get the mail and there is another phone book on my driveway!

Is there a "no phone book list" similar to the "no call list?" I don't just get one, but several different ones.

I just throw it in the recycle can but that is a lot of paper, ink, energy and time to waste for something most people don't use these days.

OK, vent over. :)

They drop off like 50 of them at our office. I think they finally stopped because I haven't seen them for a couple years.

I have a patio gate and a front door and came home to find 2 phone books. We don't even have a landline anymore. If I need a phone number, we just look it up online.

I wish there was a 'no phone book list' somewhere! I swear I get one every month, all from different companies. Such a waste of paper. We keep ONE (that we never even look at) and the rest go straight into the recycling bin.

My uncle worked at a printer. One of their main clients was the phone book people. They've all pretty much been laid off now.

You would think they could think of something to do with those people. Maybe send their printing staff salesguy to go after the politicians, as they seem to also send me a lot of printed stuff I don't need.

It is sad they all lost their jobs, but I don't use a phone book any longer, either. Neither does my uncle. :confused3

I do look most numbers up online, but I do like looking for services in the yellow pages, and I still use white pages too.

My question for those who don't use phone books at all: how to you know what number to call to report your power or internet being down? Do you have it programmed into your cell? I guess we should do that, but every time, we have to drag out the flashlight and look it up in the phone book. :rotfl:

All the Reporters at work think I'm nuts because I still use the phone book. They stop thinking that when I can find all the phone numbers and addresses that they can't find online.
Actually, I find most of the online phone directories very unreliable and dated. I went to look for a list of restaurants in my area last weekend, couldn't decide where to eat. 5 of the 15 restaurants online were out of business, one for over 5 years.

I delivered phone books this summer. You can call the company that delivers the books and ask that they not deliver to your house.

ditto. I wish we could stop getting them. It is such a waste.

I work for a Yellow Pages company. Although we have implemented on-line and mobile apps for our yellow pages, local telephone companies are still required by law to produce phone books for their customers. And, quite frankly, many people still prefer the printed phone book. However, a lot of Yellow Pages companies use the Opt Out program coordinated by the Yellow Pages Publishers Association and the Association of Directory Publishers so those customers that don't want to get the printed phone book can stop delivery. I've attached a link to an article that contains the link to the Opt Out web-site. The site lets you opt out of all or just some of the phonebooks you would be eligible to receive in your area.

We get the phone number off of a bill.

I agree with the OP. I am so friggin sick of coming home to find yet another phone book on my lawn! Enough already. I pick them up and put them in the trash. We don't use them for ANYTHING. It is such a waste!

Thanks I am going to check this out. I just hate the waste since I never use them.

As another pp said, I get my emergency numbers off of a bill.

It's horrible here at the lake because of the zones they have for "local" and "long distance".. This side of the lake could be "local"; the other side "long distance" - over to town "local" - next town over from that "long distance" - next small town (where my post office is) "long distance" - and on and on.. I swear I must have 15 phone books here that cover "maybe" a 30 mile radius..:headache:

Oh - and they're all different shapes and sizes - so you can't even stack them nicely.. Grrrr....
