When you send me an email with the subject line "Lucky you! Savings up to 50%!" and then I open the email and find I've been chosen to save only 15%, I will NOT be buying anything. Instead, I will be sulking about the fact that someone else is getting 50% off. :rotfl: Perhaps your marketing people should stop reminding me that other people are getting better deals than I am! ;)

Sincerely,
Thrifty Mama

I could not agree more! So many places do this too. Do you really think I'm going to think I'm getting a good deal when you flat out tell me others are saving significantly more?

We love TCP in this house. In fact with there last sale the 25% off sale I got my older dd alot for summer. But I agree those e-mails are annoying.

Definitely a bummer! It's kind of like.......

Dear Disney - When you advertise free dining it would be nice if you offered it during the time I'm planning on Visiting you. It's no fun knowing others are eating for free when I can't.....LOL!

Anyone know if Childrens Place is offering Place Perks this year? The program where you earn points for every dollar spent then you can get $10 to spend in the store after a certain amount of points

Ugh - how annoying is that? Old Navy does the same thing - except once I remember not finding out the discount until I got to the check out page. Needless to say the measly 15% discount ended up in an abandoned sale.

I love TCP clothing but I find it annoying that the sizes I need are always sold out!

They are doing the free place perks this year but it is a bit different. It is all done thru email and you have to print out the email to bring with you rather than a key chain card. My emails come from myplace rewards (all caps)

Thanks! I will check it out. I've done it for the past two years and when I was in the store back in January the sales clerk had no idea

I was just in CP yesterday. They had alot of sales going on, plus if you spent $40 you received "CP bucks" for $20 to spend at a later date. Kind of like the Gymboree bucks, only you don't have to spend $50. I got my son three shorts sets, a jacket and a ballcap for $41 and have the bucks to spend another time. I am pleased with what I got. Thought the sales were pretty good. Also, like someone else said, the Placeperks is now done through email. They don't use the cards anymore. The salesperson told me too many people lost them. :goodvibes

I know, I got 20% however that's where I buy all my girls clothes therefor will be taking advantage of it. 20% is better then nothing LOL

I also got a 15% off.

BUT, I like it MUCH MUCH MUCH better when they tell you upfront instead of making you go to all the bother of putting something in your cart, signing in, going through checkout, etc, only to find out that it's only 15% and I just wasted about 10 minutes. So thank you for streamlining the lousy code process. :rotfl:

OK, you've got a good point there! :rotfl2: If I had gone through the whole process, I wouldn't have had time to come to Dis to complain about it.

At least you got the email. I haven't gotten one at all. checked my spam and trash to but nothing.

Unless I was already planning on buying something at that particular store I won't even click through those emails that don't tell you what your discount is, it's not worth it to me so if they want my business they're going to have to offer me the discount flat out. So I guess I'm happy they saved me the money today :rotfl2:.

Kohl's does the same thing. I got the 30% recently - when there was nothing we really needed to shop for :headache:

While you're at it, let's include Rack Room Shoes . . .

They always run the Buy One, Get A Second Pair 50% Off sale. IF I don't see a second pair that I want, more often than not I'll forego the first pair too. It seems "wasteful" not to buy two pair, and it seems "wasteful" to skip the discount . . . so most often, that deal ends up costing them my sale.

Maybe it's a thing that works on other people, but it really turns me off.

That happened to me at CVS the other day. It was buy one fragrance get one free. They only had one fragrance that I wanted and only one bottle of that. It was very deceptive also because the bogof was in small type below a big 50% off. :sad2:

I'm just disappointed in the quality of CP this season. We stopped in there today. First, the store didn't have half of what the website did. I was going to look for DD some bermuda style plaid and khaki shorts.....none. Not ONE pair of shorts. They had two of the styles of skirts but none in a size 8 or 10 so that didn't help us either. But I was looking at the skirts and decided I was just as happy to skip them - there was the CUTEST little teal skirt with chartreuse embroidery. But it was thin, short, and NO little shorts attached underneath! So I'd have had to buy the skirt, a top, and then found some little bike shorts or something to go under it. It didn't appear to have a line of tops that matched it but I did find a fairly close match in the 2/$10 or whatever mix and match tees. But it was super thin, too. I was just unimpressed all the way around on the girls stuff I saw. I did glance over the little boys, DS can wear almost everything from last summer so he just needed a few new tops to spice up the wardrobe, and they had some cute sailor striped tees for $6...again none in our size LOL but they were cute. I might have snapped a couple of them up if the store had his size in stock. Several years ago, when our bigger boys were little, you could get ADORABLE matching outfits for brothers and sisters. A full line from the big boys down through toddlers and infants. I haven't seen as much of that in the last few years. I really hate to see that go, we had many a cute coordinated Easter from CP back in the day....... Maybe they know how I feel, though, because I didn't even get that email ;)
