They are on sale this week at TRU for $29.99 so u can do the math. Then, you can drive over to target for the books because they are on sale this week for 9.99 and with the $4 dollars off coupon from the leapfrog site they are 5.99. It is still cheaper than if you do the buy 2 and get 1 free from TRU. I know there were posts of some folks finding the books on clearance for 3 bucks or so but I am not that lucky. The Tag is 49.99 at most Toys r us stores and it is the older 16MB version FYI... I found it better to buy the new one at target for 39.99 minus the $10 coupon for the 32mb version.

As for the book buying a toys r us is still cheaper (tag or tag jr) do the buy 2 get 1 free offer this week, and use 3 coupons...

because you can use 3 coupons the Toys r us is a better deal here is a breakdown. Hope this helps!

Yep you can... I have picked up 6 tag books and 6 tag jr books over the last 2 days...

It takes off the lowest 1 free so make sure you do not mix tag and tag jr books on same transaction. Also btw tag Jr books work on the tag...

Well, I finally had some time today before my dentist appointment to make it to TRU to get the reader. There is bad news and good news.

Bad News: the Tag reader at the TRU that I went to was full price at $49.99. I asked the sales person and she said even if the TRU website does not say "internet only" the $29.99 price is only for online purchase.

Good News: You can get the tag books using a $4 coupon for each book and still get the buy 2 and get 1 free.

Good News: I went to one Target and the Tag reader was still $49.99 but I went to another Target on my way home and I found it on sale for $39.99 so I used the $10 coupon.

The upside to the extra 10 bucks for the reader than my original post is that the Target deal is for the new reader that holds up to 10 books and not just five. That works in my books and it comes with the cat in the hat book. So, the deal is a few extra bucks then my original post but it still works. I guess it depends ow much you really want the reader.

For the the folks wondering where to get the coupons, go to the leapfrog website using the link in my original post and sign up for an account. It should then give you access to both coupons.

I actually got REALLY lucky a few weeks ago.... I'm on a children's clothing board and someone had posted a link to 10.00 off coupon from Leapfrog... well, Target had marked down their Tag readers to 12.50. I went to my Target and was able to get 3 tag reader sets... each totaling 2.50 a PIECE! The cashier let me use the coupons because nowhere did it state a particular price stipulation. Apparently this is the old version of the TAG reader and there's a new version out now. I'm not familiar with the differences of the 2 but DS loves his TAG reader!

That was the ultimate deal because I must have gone to ten different Targets around town and there was nothing for 12.50. Good job! The difference between the two is the the older version only holds 5 books and the new one has space for 10. Yey for you
