*DEAL EXPIRED* Ebates.ca (CDN) 20.0% cash back on Orbitz tickets!!

Signed up, bought the tickets, got the 3-day + 2 day free park hopper tix for Disney. It DID say at checkout that the cash back can be processed as late as 40 post vacation, but I'll be contacting for the cash back before I leave in February so I have the extra cash.

Tickets cost me (for 1 person) $341.87. 20% cash back through ebates will net me $68.37, making the tickets cost $273.50. Compare that to Disney's rack rate on the same ticket (5 day park hopper) at $370.62, and I saved a total of $97.12! :cool1:
Ebates doesn't send you the cash back on request. They send the cash back out on a quarterly basis. The credit will be processed to your ebates account within 40 days of your travel date. Sometimes you get lucky and it credits to your account shortly after you've made the purchase. Sometimes, like in the case of my last purchase, they make you wait the entire 40 days following the date that you picked up your tickets. Even then, you will receive your "Big Fat Check" according to their payout schedule.

You also need to be aware that the funds in your account are in Canadian dollars, which are worth 90¢ of a US dollar. See several posts back where Jonstar quoted the terms of ebates.ca In a nutshell, that means that your $68.37 CAD rebate is worth $61.53 in USD.

The ebates refund will be issued in Canadian funds, which means that you're going to have to pay a currency exchange fee to convert it to USD (that's on top of the exchange rate). It's also going to eat into your cash back total.

It's still more than the 10% I was expecting to get by buying it through Expedia.com, so even if a little bit is munched on savings wise, I'm fine.

And you absolutely can get your cash back within a week if you wish. You just submit a ticket. I did it for my Hotels.com reservation because I thought they were supposed to deposit into my account pre-vacation; the extra dollars are spent on travel. I'll be doing the same with this.

Though, I imagine if I have it set to my PayPal account, it'll auto-convert? If not, I'll do what I must to convert it.

I've been with ebates since the year 2000. I know how they work. You can submit tickets, but you stand a good chance of getting the same canned response that I dealt with for 5 months! They don't automatically credit your account just because you submit a ticket. Sometimes you get lucky and someone will actually override the system and you get your credit asap. Other times, they need to thoroughly investigate your purchase before they act.

Plus, getting credit to your account does not mean you can request payment at any time that you wish. The next "Big Fat Check" will be for purchases made through ebates during 1/1/14-3/31/14. It will be sent out on 5/15/14. You will get your money at some point after that, not prior to your trip in Feb. of this year.

Been with Ebates since 2006 and this is all 100% correct as to how Ebates works :thumbsup2

Hi - Some questions if you know.

#1 - Can someone else pickup your tickets for you or will they ask for ID of the person's name on the purchase? My best friend is going to WDW in April and I would have her pick them up for me so that I can do the FP+ stuff beforehand...Not sure if I want to do it otherwise.

#2 - I'm not an Ebates user but would sign up for this. Is it an option for them to actually send you a check for the cash or do you have to use their 'credit' toward something else online?

Thanks!

Looks like a great deal for some.

#1 - Yes you can have someone else redeem the tickets but you must put that in at time of checkout with Orbitz.

#2 - Ebates will send you a cheque in the mail if you want. They actually default to that way of sending you the $$ and unless you select paypal in your setting, you'll get one through snail mail.

I'm only seeing 10% on the Canadian site now.

I see that too - DEAL IS DEAD!
