*DEAL EXPIRED* Ebates.ca (CDN) 20.0% cash back on Orbitz tickets!!

UPDATE: Ebates.ca is no back to 10.0%. If you're Canadian, it's a better idea to use Ebates.com (American site) to purchase tickets as they'll pay you in USD. That way you can take advantage of the weak CDN dollar right now!

Ebates.ca is offering up to 20% cash back with Orbitz. The fine print is as follows:

20.0% Cash Back per Activity reservation
2.0% Cash Back on Activities Package
6.0% Cash Back on Retail Hotel reservation
2.0% Cash Back on Prepaid Hotels, Prepaid Hotel Package, Air Package, Car Package, Activities Package
$50.00 Cash Back per Cruise reservation
$7.20 Cash Back per Car reservation
$3.60 Cash Back per Air ticket

The question I can't seem to find out is whether or not park tickets at WDW are an "Activity Reservation" or "Activities Package". Apparently Ebates.com offers only 10% on "activity reservations" and that is what people have received back. I'm just not sure and I don't want to buy without checking.

Thoughts?

If you head over to Ebates.ca (the Canadian site) you can search for Orbitz. I'm still seeing the 20.0% available.

Try posting to them on their Facebook page. You will get a quick response. That would be amazing! It looks just like the 10% off deal they had in the US. I got $147 back on that...20% back would be incredible. I got 10% back for booking an Activity Reservation, which was buying 6 parkhoppers for Disneyland.

Please keep us posted on what you find out. I will buy all of our tickets today if that is the case. But then there is still the debate on whether you can link your vouchers to MDE and select FP+ options ahead of time. The savings would be worth it though!

I've emailed them and tried to do a live online chat but I think their offices are still closed. Looks like they're on Pacific time and they don't open until 9am probably.

This looks to be part of their Winter Escape promotion and I'm not sure how much longer it will run (the board won't let me post links yet but it's on Ebates.ca site).

I think you can join but you might want to look into it first.

As a Canadian, I'm was able to sign up for Ebates.com (the American site). A friend of mine has made Disney purchases through Ebates.com before and had a cheque in US funds mailed to her.

I just skimmed through all of the terms and conditions.
I did not see anything that stated you had to live in Canada to join, but it did make a statement about a possibility of having to pay taxes on any cash back or referral money you earn.
That would be my only concern, as I do not know Canadian tax laws. I would hate to find out that I owed Canada more money in taxes than I saved on my purchase!!

So just to be 100% sure, you did get the 20%? They do classify Disney World park tickets as an "Activity Reservation"? It's already showing up in your "cash pending" area?

Yes we do! But they can't tax you any sales tax (13% in Ontario) on the cash-back so you're good there.

I believe they are warning Canadians that the rebate could be viewed as income by the Canadian revenue agency. They would then require that we declare it at tax time (and then be taxed accordingly).

That would only apply if you are Canadian.

Thanks! I will ponder it a bit more. I have an ebates account so I know that they are reliable and I do receive checks. I might try it. 20% is a big disount! I was planning to get tickets this way anyways through orbitz- never done it before but even the 10% us discount sounded good to me.

I'm concerned about how the money would be sent from ebates.ca. I get the US ebates website to send me a check in the mail. Paypal takes a cut of any money I get thru them.

My concern is that:

a. The funds would be in Canadian dollars, which is trading 90¢ to the US dollar right now.

b. There would be foreign transaction fees involved in converting those Canadian dollars to US dollars when ebates.ca sends their rebate money.​

Between the possibility of Paypal taking their share of the money (I don't want to try cashing a check from out of the country), foreign transaction fees and getting 90¢ on the dollar, I'm not willing to take the gamble.
