"Deadliest Catch" Fans (Crab Fishing) check in here...

So what did everyone think last night? Good to see some of the crew! Especially the Northwestern team. I'm going to miss Hyrim (sp?) on the Maverick though.

Very sad that a ship went down. I hope they are able to find more crew members.

Is Hyrim the kind of blonde haired oldish, compared to the others, fisherman??? If so I was looking for him, why is he gone???

He was the older guy on the Maverick with the scratchy voice and was typically goofing off. They didn't say why he wasn't there. :(

Okay, maybe she's not stupid, but shopping with her recipes?

I like how she was just buying one box of this and one box of that. OK, that will last half a day!! LOL!!

Oh, and thanks for the info on Rick and his wife guys!! :thumbsup2

And then they showed the Captain of the Time Bandit running his arm along the shelf of crackers and just knocking the boxes in - I thought it was great!

We know a boat (I am assuming small with only 4 crew members total) went down but does anyone know if it was part of the crab fleet?

I know Phil on the Cornelia Maria said that the boat "was too far from the crab fishing grounds" and there was no way they could get to it.

Just curious if I missed something

And.....I do really like Phil also - I love the way he handles his boys - no favors for them.

Blake was funny trying to get the old guys to give him hints - I like the Captain that said he should be taking notes. I think they all talk with each other but since Blake is the "Greenhorn" they really play up and show alot of his insecurities.

I thought I heard them say it was a car carrier boat.. I will have to play it again on the tivo.

It seemed like they only rescued 1 of the crew. My tico cut off the last 4-5 minutes

What is up with that stupid woman they had on last night?

Okay, maybe she's not stupid, but shopping with her recipes? Bleached blond hair and shoes? She looked like she was more comfortable in a hair saloon then in a galley.

I WANT DONNA BACK!!!!

Okay, maybe I'm being mean and judging her before I get a chance to know her. She may be well suited for life on a crab boat. :rolleyes1 I guess we will see!!

Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

All I could think of when she was shopping was, who's going to have time to eat these gourmet meals you're thinking of preparing?? She's in for a BIG surprise.

No the Car Carrier boat is the one that came to help the sinking boat.

They chose to let Hiram go. But I'm not sure any one official explanation was given... theres lots of speculation though.

Ugh oh. If I remember correctly, Hiram and Blake didn't get along or Hiram said that if Blake ever became captain Hiram would leave.

Didn't he and Donna have "words" over a meal on the last season?

That was another deckhand. I wanna say Justin? But I don't know.

Some people think that the "words" are the reason why. That since he was disrespecting Rick's wife (and the co-owner of the boat), and throwing such a ridiculous fit, they made the decision to let him go.

He was also arrested recently, and on the discovery boards some people think he may have worked under the influence of something. But thats purely gossipy speculation.

I just saw this for the first time last night. I am now hooked. I stayed up till like 3am watching it.

I love, love...LOVE Deadliest Catch!! I love almost every show on Discovery, but this one always reels me in :lmao: :lmao:

It's good to see the familiar faces on the Northwestern (although I admit, I had NO idea Edgar was a Hansen!!! He's very handsome!) and the Cornelia Marie. I always enjoy the antics between Sig and Phil ( I agree with you Maryanne, Phil does look a lot better this year!) I was very surprised to see that Rick on the Maverick actually gave Blake the Captain job. I know at the end of last season, they had a big argument about it and Rick kept saying Blake wasn't ready...guess he is now LOL!

I really...really miss Captain Eric and The Rollo Boys :( Even under pressure they were always joking and let's be honest ladies, they had quite the crew  I'm not afraid to write a letter to Discovery to have them come back!!!!

You know you watch too much Deadliest Catch when you go out to dinner, see King Crab and actually ask out loud to your DH " I wonder if these came from one of THE boats" :rotfl2:

OK...doing a little research (aka stalking) on MySpace and found some of the ages of the Captains hehe.

Captain Eric Nyhammer (Rollo) is 44...THAT surprised me!! He certainly does not look 44. Perhaps crab fishing has the opposite effect on him :thumbsup2 Deckhand Corey Arnold is 29 and is also quite the artist! Deckhand Matt Sullivan is 21. Engineer Bryan Greer is 44 and has been with Captain Eric since 1989. First Mate Christian Kirk is 44 and is Eric's Brother in Law.

Captain Phil Harris (Cornelia Marie) is 48, his son Jake is 20. First Mate is Roger Jensen, Deckhands are Dave Millman and Dan Gilbert. Engineer is Walt Dauderis is 48.

Captain Rick Quashnick (former Captain of The Maverick) is 49. I'm not sure how old this MySpace page is, but I assume it's pretty recent and it lists Blake Painter (the Captain now of The Maverick) at 26. Deckhand Mike Johnson is 27, Deckhand Justin Gifford is also 27.

Captain Sig Hansen (Northwestern) is 39 (who woulda thunk it!). Deck Boss/Engineer Edgar Hansen (Sig's Brother) is 33. Deckhand Norman Hansen (another Hansen brother) is 38.

Captain John Hillstrand (Time Bandit) is 43. Andy Hillstrand shares command duties with John and he is 42. Youngest brother Neil Hillstrand is 38 and is in charge of prepping the boat before each season. Deckhand Mike Fourtner is 25, Deckhand Tom Miller is 32.

Once they get more info about new crews, I'll update this post. Even though the Rollo isn't on DC this year..I'll keep the information there anyway hehehe.

Where is this speculation? I would love to read!

From what I remember about the Blake becoming captain - it wasn't Hiram that was throwing a fit but the other crew members. Hiram said that Blake would be a fine captain one day because he had lots of exeperience on his father's fishing boat for salmon and other fish in the states, and also the crab fishing on the maverick.

That makes sense, when the crew was doing their opening interviews the deckhand mentioned that they had all grown up together, gone to high school together and were all friends. It would make sense that they are all about the same age.

( I agree with you Maryanne, Phil does look a lot better this year!) I :

Thank you Holly - :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I think it's the shorter hair with that gravelly(sp?) voice that is doing something for me :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It was on the Discovery DC boards. But the main thread with all the gossipy details seems to have disappeared (or I just missed it when I was looking). But I'm sure you can still find a thread or two of people talking about it.
