DD31 will be having a vow renewal ceremony on Nov. 5 at Sea Breeze Point shortly after her 10th wedding anniversary (she was married at the Wedding Pavilion). At this time she will be about 7.5 months pregnant with their second child. She originally wanted to wear a simple wedding-type dress, but since she became pregnant, that changed - she thought she would look "ridiculous" in a white/ivory dress (her opinion). So, she ultimately chose a really pretty maternity bridesmaid dress from David's Bridals and has decided that the most elegant look was to get it in black. She will carry a bouquet of fire and ice roses (white with red tips). Her DH will wear a black suit, white shirt and the "wedding" tie he wore at their rehearsal dinner ten years ago which is black, white and has red in it (lots of little bridal type pictures, not too loud). What does everyone think? I am a little worried about her wearing black - too harsh? Help!

Well..I really think its up to the person. Some think black is slimming (and being pregnant she probably really wants that lol) But on the other hand...a pretty lighter color will really brighten up the day, even a red color to match the roses and his tie. And a vow renewal is about celebrating and renewing your love. The only other big symbol of this is having a child together...so why not highlite both of these events together? I would talk to her and see if she has thought about wearing a lighter color to actually show off her growing belly as a symbol of love. If she really wants to slim down, black is not a bad option either. Its all up to her preference. Also, is she lighter hair/skin? Because black might be a bit harsh. Maybe a navy blue or forest green would look good and do the "slimming" trick. :) Best of luck! And no matter what she wears...she will look beautiful!

Oh my gosh....tell her congrats!!! for both the 10yrs & the baby

i was married 10yrs ago at wdw too....dec 4th!!

glad to see shes going back!!

Tell her to go with whatever feels right
If you saw it & it looks beautiful....then shes got the winning dress
I think Empire waisted gowns look amazing on pregnant women....tell her to search out some stars that are pregnant & go to these big events....they look incredible & she might get some ideas!!

Congrats & have fun!!!

Thanks for your opinions. I saw her in both the black dress and also a nice red -same dress. I also saw, but she did not try on, the same dress in a peri blue and a dusty deep lavender. Her opinion is that the colors reminded her of a bridesmaid, but the black looked more like an elegant evening-formal type gown. Her opinion is also that she did the white, fluffy bride thing ten years ago, that she herself is also ten years older and the "bride" thing is no longer for her, and that she really wanted to look "elegant" as opposed to "bridal". I don't think she wants to hide the belly, because at 7.5 months that would be kinda impossible:rotfl: . But she doesn't want it look like a pregnant bride either (no offense to any of you out there:hippie: ).

You good wishes are appreciated.

Anyone who did a vow renewal - what did you do about dinner/reception?
