Those huge tonsils are going bye bye! I'm sooo nervous !I know it's a short procedure but just the thought of my6 yr old going under makes it hard!I've told her as much as I can about the operation and that she won't feel the greatest for awhile, but eventually she'll start feeling better and hopefully won't have any more problems with strep! The hardest thing for her before the surgery will be not eating ... she's one of those kids that have to eat as soon as she gets out of bed!

Hope everything goes well.

Ds had tonsils and adenoids out and tubes put in in June. He was 7 at the time. Just be prepared for her to feel lousy the first week. But we are so glad we had it done. He hasn't had strep throat since ( and he was getting it 4 or 5 times per year) and he hears better and everything.

Good luck!:grouphug:

My dd has been strep free for the 5 years since hers came out. Good luck. I know the next week or two will be hard on you, but it is worth it for the long run. Sending pixie dust your way.:wizard:

My son had to have surgery when he was 18 months old. It was HARD! But it will all turn out very, very well. :wizard:

I had my tonsils/adnoids out at age 13 - and I can tell you, I sleep better, breathe better - everything. It was the best thing I could have done.

Did they tell you not to let her use straw afterwards? No one warned me and let me tell you IT HURT SOOOOOOO MUCH! Hope she has minimal pain!

:grouphug: to your and your DD. It is never easy to have a child operated on, but this time next week, all will be good..You will be glad you did it. Just getting there is rough..Hugs

Hugs!!! I went through the same operation when I was about 8 years old. Afterwards, her throat will be sore. What soothed me the most were popsicles, and ice slushies.

Thanks for the well wishes!I've stocked up on so many boxes of pops that when DH opened the freezer he asked if that's what were having for dinner the next few years! :rotfl:

Awww, I remember you mentioning this before. I'm glad it's finally here!! I know it's not easy sending your kids in for surgery but this will better her life for sure. My son had it done when he was 6 and it's changed his life!!! My daughter is next. As a matter of fact, she has both ears clogged with fluid right now because of a bad infection that caused her adenoids to swell. We're waiting for the swelling to come down so they can drain. When we go back to the Dr in 2 weeks you better believe I'll be asking about when we can get those adenoids out. I didn't even mention her tonsils, they are HUGE all the time. I don't know how the kid swallows food. :sad2: So, you're not alone. I'll be facing this in the near future as well. Then you can tell me how well your daughter did to make me feel less worried!!

Hang in there! dd9 has had 3 surgeries and momma always worries.

The worst part for my dd was the IV. They never put it in until after she'd gone under but she hated when they took it out.

Sending healing vibes to your dd. pixiedust:

Poor little girl. I hope all goes very well for her. Lots of popcicles for her when she gets out!
