We are going the last week of January, for somewhere between 4 and 7 days (part with my parents, part with just me, DH, DD2 and DS5). We like the idea of DDP and I promise I read the FAQ, but I haven't seen anything discussing the value of DDP taking into consideration the discounted ticket prices, etc.

A few weeks ago when the ticket prices were going to go up, I thought if I wait to get the (dining plan) package, I'll have to buy tickets from Disney at the new, 2008 price. So I saved $200 buying from UT at the old prices (10 day PH, no exp x 2adults, 1child). I figured (and at the time I knew nothing about the app/gratuity change) there'd be no way DDP would save me that much, and if it did I'd just buy one day tickets later so I could get something for that $200, kwim? Was I totally off? There are so many experienced DISers that seem to be considering the DDP that I'm second guessing myself.

I had that same problem last year. I fretted and fretted about how we would come out money wise. There were 2 issues for me. Discounted room (SOG rollover rate) and discounted tickets (buying tickets at SOG rate). We definitely did better not to use the DDP.
