I am planning to make an RCI exchange to stay at a DVC resort. I will be staying for 7 nights, but I was wondering if it's possible to book the DDP for only 3 nights of my stay for everyone in the room. I'm only planning to do 3 sit-down meals, so I thought, if this is possible, it may work out better.

I think you will have to ask Member Services at DVC once you have your exchange set. Members are allowed to split up our reservations that way (segmenting) to allow different dining options on different nights, but I don't know what they might do for RCI reservations. Unless someone here has personal experience. It seems logical that they would allow it for you as well, but I don't know that.

my guess is that RCI trades into DVC are always for 7 night blocks, so the DDP will be all or nothing as well. won't know for sure till you call, though.

That is true, the RCI exchanges are always for a 7 night block, so I suspect you may be right, all or nothing with the DDP. I will definitely call member services once I book to find out for sure. Do you think I'd be better off with or without the DDP if I'm only planning to go to 3 sit-down meals, and a few counter-services throughout our stay? I know this is a hotly debated topic. I lean towards no DDP if I can't add it for just a few nights.

Unless you are talking 3 signature meals (that use 2 credits each) I cannot imagine 7 days of DDP being worth it for 3 meals. (Well if you had 7 children under 10 and did 3 character buffets it actually might)
