DDP question

If we take a trip with relatives and have 2 studios, I know that adding the DDP is based on each room independently, meaning all of the guests in one room have to be on the plan for the entire length of stay. If my parents were in a studio, they are only 2 people, but a Studio holds 4. Could we add the DDP just for 2 people if that is the number of people staying in the room? When you book a reservation through DVC on points, how do they know how many people are actually staying in the room? When booking a cash reservation, for example, you need to purchase tickets for everyone as well in order to get the DDP, so they know how many people and their ages, knowing how much for the DDP and how many adult or child credits. How do they know for DVC trips?

They take away towels and pillows down to the # of reserverd guests. Sometimes while the extra person is taking the shower ;) :rotfl2:

Not really. Since we are all in this together (sharing maint fees) They use some trust. However, it would not do you much good to have a larger party than DDP, because TS restaurants only allows you to use credits up to what the card(s) show. (Mousesavers used to suggest that you could invide guests to use your adult TS credits, it is now prohibited)

Now, you'll probably get your first locked DVC thread as this goes into the whole max occupancy mega thread.

When you book a DVC reservation, they ask the names, addresses and ages of the room occupants, just like the regular WDW Resorts.

Your KTK card is coded for the DDP to indicate the number of guests and if they are adults or children. There are always around every system, but is it worth the trouble?

I'm not looking for ways to get around the system or to beat the system, just assuring that if my parents have their own studio and decide to get the DDP they only have to pay for the 2 of them and not for 4 people (maximum occupancy of a studio room). So that they do not have to pay double and have to pay for credits they would not use. I was not sure how the DDP worked with DVC because of the fact that a ticket purchase is not a requirement, so I was making sure they would not have to pay for the max number of guests for their room-type, and could pay for themselves only.

Yes, you only pay for the actual number of people in the room, not the maximum capacity of the room.

Sorry that I miss-understood your question. We always have some people in our party that don't eat enough to make that DDP worth the money. We try to register the non eaters together in the same room and they pay cash when we go out to dinner.
