To DDP or not? (Done both before.)

2 adults/2 children (8&5)

3 TS's planned at 1 TS credit each.
1 TS planned at 2 TS credit each.
5TS's total (above.)

Cost OOP will be approx. $560 for these above. Including tax/tip. DDP would cost me $650 for same above.

SO - do I pay the 560 OOP and "wing it" for all other meals, or should I pay $650 for DDP and get an add'l 1TS (6 total) plus my CS meals/snacks added in. BUT I'd also be paying all tips on top of the $650...while my tips were included in my $560 above.

Talk me thru this :-)

I'm trying to decide the same thing. In the past we always did dining plan and loved it. But now the price keeps going up, so I'm not sure. I really think you will save some money with the plan, but you will get more food than yopu might normally eat. CS is NOT cheap at all, but your kids may be able to share a meal instead of getting them each one.
It will probalby be really close in costs.

Also looking that you will be staying 6 nights, just assuming each person eats $10 a day, thats $40 a day in CS (estimate of course) so you will have a good $240 in CS meals/snacks. It could be more, or it could be less too.

DDP = $650 (including tax, no tip)
OOP = $480 (including tax, no tip)

Difference = $170 over 6 days.

Additional TS will be worth approximately $90 based on your other 5 meals which leaves you with:

$80 for 6 CS meals plus 24 (6x4) snacks.

Snacks are about $3 each and adult CS meals are about $10 each while child CS meals are about $5 each.

Value of remaining CS and snacks =
12 x $10 (adult CS meals) 12 x $5 (child CS meals) + 24 x $3 (snacks) = $252

Do the DDP.

I'm not even gonna try to do the math...
But I would say do the dining plan. It's so easy and you know you will have food! I like it because I know all my meals are covered already so the only money I need is spending money! :goodvibes

But don't forget you still have to tip with the dining plan.
