Well not really...but it feels that way! So, I get all wrapped up in the excitement of the free dining plan and book a trip I know we shouldn't be taking because the kids would miss a whole week of school. (I have taken them out of school before but have always been able to do it in conjuction with school holidays where they only missed three days or so.)

So what happens? At the 44-day mark things start going downhill...my mom begins have heart problems and has been hospitilized three times over the last few weeks. DS starts getting one of those little coughs that soon transforms into a really big cough and has missed school the entire week. DD is now in possession of said little cough and is jockey-ing for a position on the couch with ressies for next week. We fly out on 9/30! I know it's still two weeks away and a lot can happen between now and then (that's the part I'm afraid of!!!). Please, for the love of Disney, help me get my family healthy again. :teeth:

P.S. Did I mention I have a runny nose? :sad2:

I would go to the pharmacy right now and get the nose spray or the swabs that start with a z , Zyc or something like that they are used to fight colds. I used them this winter when my 3 year old would start getting the cough and with in 3 days cough was gone. he liked the swabs better than the nose spray. Give them vitamins!

Thank you both! :goodvibes

The one good thing about this is that everyone should have this out of their system by our departure date. Just keeping my fingers crossed that my mom's new heart meds. will be working for her. It there's even a chance she might be hospitalized again...we won't go. During the last visit, her blood pressure went down to 58/35 and they tried twice to convert her heart rate to a normal rhythm electrically with no success. She's had a problem with this for the last twenty years and the old meds. were just not effective anymore. Thank goodness we live just a few blocks away!

Not much you can do about Mom but pray.

Hope everyone feels better soon! I'm sure you will have a great trip!!

DD is sniffling tonight as well. Brought her home from school today and she has been laying low ever since. She will probably miss tomorrow night's slumber party but I am sure we will be going to the Cheetah Girls Concert on Sunday.

Sending Pixie dust your way so that your family gets better and you get to go on your trip.

We also have the dreaded cold, congestion and sore throat symptoms. I have been pumping my kids with "airborne" and hoping for the best . We are going through gallons of OJ and bananas .... :sunny:

We're way OT here, and I'm not trying to be a "know-it-all", but both my Chiropractor and D. O. have told me OJ promotes sinus congestion. They both recommend Cranberry (or my preference is Cran-Apple) juice for the vitamin C and fluids.

We're trying to stay health here because in <look down>, we're going to Disney and DDP!!!

Sending some pixie dust pixiedust: your way so everyone is healthy...I just got over the flu so I know how you feel....we leave in 4 days and I have been popping Vitamin C hoping to fight off any remains of sickness!!!!

Thanks again everybody! The kids are both doing better today, but I'm actually feeling a little worse (which is fine as I know there's no way to go from here but up!). Biggest concern is my mom as she could be doing great and then a day or two before we leave, end up in the hospital again. I didn't even tell her we were going until just a few days ago as I didn't want to give her anything to worry about. I wouldn't have told then, but my parents always watch our dog when we travel and I needed to find out if they would prefer we make other arrangements (you need to have ressies at most of the kennels here).

That's interesting about OJ actually causing congestion...did they say why? My family loves it, but really doesn't care for cranberry juice. Maybe just the chewable vitamin C would be a good option for us.

Also, for those of you that actually use Airborne...I believe it was Consumer Reports that did a study and found it to be ineffective in fighting colds. Do you really think it helps?

pixiedust: (just don't sneeze!)

Ok for the kiddies..tea with lemon and honey
for you...tea with honey and a little rum...
Zinc and echinesa (sp?) for all!!! 100mg vit c per day...

2 LARGE chocolate chip cookies for everyone and you should be all set!!!

No offense anybody...but I'm thinking I should go with AdventureGuru's medication guidelines!!!

Just wanted to post a follow-up:
I'm packing right now!
(Well...actually I'm sitting on my rear at the computer when I should be packing.)

Yes, the day has finally come and no one is coughing. No one is in the hospital. And no one is more in need of a trip to WDW than me!!!

Thank you all for your pixie dust -- it worked! :thumbsup2

Have fun Lisa! Call me when you get back and we'll have lunch again before we go!:cheer2:
