DDP for DVC Members Not Staying on Points

Can you still get the DDP if you are a DVC member not staying on points, just a cash reservation? We just bought into the DVC, but previously already planned a trip for NYE and there is no space available for the dates we wanted on our Developer points, so we are just going to anyway on a regular reservation, but can we still get the DDP without booking any park tickets with our package? (We are just going to get annual passes.) Also can we get any discounts on our regular room at the AKL because we are DVC members? Thanks, a novice DVC member

As long as you are staying on site I believe you still can get the DDP.......As far as discount for rooms, you may have to inquire about those, but there are discounts available at times.

We had one trip with cash rooms and points room and we had DDP for both. We have always had AP. We never had to purchase ticket packages.


As for getting DVC discounts on others rooms, you can on DVC resorts only, so you can at AKV but not AKL. I believe the discount is 25% (I haven't used in awhile so hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.)

I assume since you already had the trip booked before you were DVC members, you are staying on a cash reservation booked through Disney. If so, then no, you can not add the DDP without booking tickets...unless you have an AP. There has been a change to Cash bookings that allows AP holders to not need the ticket package...but there may be other restrictions.

Also, you can not get DVC discounts, only AP discounts on non-DVC resorts, and a regular room at AKL falls under that rule.

DVC discounted rooms are for DVC rooms only, and they must be booked through Member Services.

If you had booked a regular hotel room using points, through the Disney Collection through Member Services, then you could add the DDP. Member Services does not make cash reservations at non-DVC Disney resorts.

You can however, get the DVC discounts on dining, shopping and the free valet parking at AKV. Just show your membership card. Since a Portable Perks booklet is not part of the cash check-in package, be sure to ask for one at the front desk and show your membership card.

Thanks for all the replies, they totally answered my questions. We will have annual passes, but I didn't know if you had them you didn't have to book the ticket packages. That is pretty cool. This may mean we won't have to reschedule our trip. Thanks again.

If you don't have an AP to get the DDP....try calling MS and see if they have any cash discounted rooms(DVC) at AKL....you might be able to get a studio for the same price as a room....then you can add DDP.

If you are going on NYE I dont think discounts will be available. That is a very, very busy time at WDW.
