DDP - Do I have to wait until 4pm?

I noticed that arrival time for the WDW Resorts is 4pm. We usually arrive earlier than that. If we get there early on our check in day, can we use the dinning plan before the room is ready? Do I have to wait until 4pm?

You can use your dining plan credits as soon as you check in...if your room is not ready, it is not going to keep you from using them...have fun!

No, you don't have to wait. Once you check in, you will be given your KTTW cards with your park tickets and dining credits on them. Your room may not be ready until later, but you will be able to use the DDP and go to the parks . I don't think you'll be given your room number until the room is actually ready, but you will get everything else you need upon check-in .

We check in around 11-12 get the DDP card and head out to eat. About 2 we call to see if our room is ready. Somehow you can now open the door to that room with your card without returning to the front desk.
