DDP + DDE: How much hassle???

I have booked FD for a party of eight for Sept...we are mostly adults and I know that there will be some appetizers and alcohol beverages involved. How much trouble will it be to use both the DDE card (for apps and ETOH) and the dining plan?

We don't find it to be a hassle at all.

You will need to sign an extra receipt but that's no problem.

Every server we've had completely understood the process.

We used both in April of 2007 and again in October of 2007 (for 13 nights/14 days) and never had an issue.

I did this quite a bit in December, when paying for DDP. It wasn't a problem at all. It's two seperate checks. The only thing is that I'm pretty sure it auto adds the 18% tip to the DDP part, but I could be wrong. I thought I read that somewhere.

No, the 18% automatic tip is on DDE this year. Also for parties of six or more on DDP.

The bill for the DDP portion of the meal will show two calculations for tip as a guideline but you're free to add what you like. But those guidelines are quite handy...no need to do the math if you're not in the mood. Tip is not included on the DDP this year. You must add it yourself.

When I was reading the brochure it says that if you order alcholic beverages an 18% might be added. I took that as if you use the DDE card what would be an 18% tip would be for your DDP would be added for you to pay, but they could mean something different.

It's zero hassle, and not even an extra receipt to deal with. You're going to have that extra receipt for the non-DDP items anyway. You're going to have the automatic 18% gratuity added to all your checks because of >6 party size anyway. The only difference is you will save 20% on your non-DDP items.

The transactions are no-brainers -- they happen 20 times or more per shift to every server. It may be your first time, but it won't be your server's. They know the drill.
