DDP CM Discount

I think I know the answer to this question, but will ask anyway since I'm not 100% sure and I can't seem to find any info.

We're staying 15 nights at PVB in September utilizing my points. My DIL will be booking a separate cash room at POR with her CM discount for my son and herself. I know there's a Friends & Family discount for rooms and standard DDP. I obviously don't need a room since I have DVC but, would she be able to obtain a CM DDP plan discount for me?

I'm thinking the answer is no as my impression is that room and DDP have to be booked as a package and DVC rooms would not qualify.

You might get more info on the DP sub board. I'm pretty certain the answer is no as asked but there may be other options. Could she add you to her room and get the DP for a larger group? If so, it opens up a world of possibilities. Or you could get the cash room and DP and save the points for other options.

The discount on the ddp is not always offered even in the regular resorts. Is your DIL sure it's available for the September dates?

Correct, it's not always available but likely during the time period we're traveling. I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row from a budget standpoint. I've gone ahead and budgeted to pay full price for the reg DDP. I know for many it's not worth it, but I have two adult sons who are foodies, so we'd at least break even with it. Most days we have dinner at a sit down dinner at a signature restaurant.

As for doing a cash stay, we may end up getting an AP this time around and book a second trip within 11 months like we did a few years back. If so, we'll book the 2nd trip as cash and take advantage of the Friends & Family CM discount at that time.
