So if my husband and I go to California Grill, this would normally be 2 credits per person. But is it possibe for one of us to use our credits and the other two just order an entree? And then we can share the appetizer and dessert?

We may be meeting my family at CG for dinner, and so my little family will be on DDP, but not my mom and dad.

Also, let's say we are eating on the DDP and want to add something, like a milkshake, that is not offered on the plan, can I just pay for it myself?

I'm posting this knowing these are probably common sense questions, but it's been a long day and I just need a couple clarifications.;) Thanks!

Technically, the plan brochure states that 2 TS credits will be deducted for each person dining at a signature restaurant. However, I don't think this has been enforced, so you should be able to do what you want.......unless they get stricter with enforcing the stated rules for signature restaurants on the dining plan.

You'll always be allowed to pay OOP for folks not on the Dining Plan -- as a matter of fact, you have to. The Dining Plan prohibits using Dining Plan credits for meals for folks other than those listed on your reservation. So don't worry about them forcing you to use credits for your mother and father.

There was at least one case reported over the last year or so where if your Dining Plan was 2A/1C, that they forced the patrons to use Dining Plan credits for the child, even though the patrons wanted to pay OOP. That was at Yachtsman Steakhouse, another signature restaurant. (CG is also a signature restaurant.) However, it was apparently a rare occurrance, and with the changes to the Dining Plan on 1/1/2007, it is a measure of enforcement that is now utterly unecessary. Consider that a big advantage of the new enforcement -- we'll never have to worry about that anymore.

Finally, anything extra your order can indeed be paid for OOP. Do note that Disney policy is generally to automatically apply an 18% gratuity to such charges. Check your bill, so you don't inadvertantly stiff the server or double-tip.

You can pay OOP for those not on the plan. :goodvibes
Agreed. As Bicker pointed out, you have to do this if you meet and dine with people who are not on the plan. My post above only addressed a situation where two people, both on the plan, were dining and only one ordered a full meal.

Thank you for you help. That answers a lot. I suppose possibly my parents and my family can be on different checks, also.

Also, if I were at Le Cellier, on the DDP, and wanted to get a milkshake, can I just pay for that OOP at the end?

Thanks you guys, this is a huge help in planning things.

Anything you order above and beyond what the plan includes (perhaps a coffee with dessert if you used a soft drink with dinner as your non-alcoholic beverage) or that is excluded by the plan (perhaps an alcoholic beverage) you will get a bill for and you pay OOP. That might include a shake.

As for Le Cellier, up through the end of 2006, and possibly still, they allowed you to get a shake as your non-alcoholic beverage on the plan. Some other restaurants also allowed you to get shakes and smooties.......others didn't. Depended on the establishment and how they interpreted the plan.

yeah, I was able to get that super-yummy shake last May. I am hoping they will still allow me to do this in March!!
