Hi, just wondering if everyone has traveled in a group and used the dining plan. I would be very interested in your experiences. There will be 14 of us (10ad 4ch) in 5 separate parties (all same family) all staying at the SSR in five separate rooms.

Our Group consists of:

1. Me, Wife, Daughter. (3 people)
2. Mum, Dad (2 people)
3. Brother, SIL, Nephew (3 people)
4. Sister, BIL, Nephews X2 (4 people)
5. Aunt, Cousin (2 people)

As this is a special occasion for my father (60th Birthday) we would like to eat together as a group of 14.

My questions are:

1. Can I make an ADR for 14 people and be seated together and TS locations?

2. If I can make and ADR for 14, do I have to make 5 separate reservations?

3. If it is possible for us to be seated together, what is the procedure with tipping as a group? I read somewhere Disney will automatically charge 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. Is it possible for each party to pay their tips or any extras like drinks, appetizer etc separately?

Many thanks.

Yes, you can make ADRs for 14. Yes, tips are automatically added to parties of 8 or more paying cash...I have no idea how they do this on the dining plan. You can make one ADR for 14 as this is what you really want. When you are seated, tell your server who is a group (for purposes of charging the right credits.)

Thanks for the information and advice and thank you for the Grand Gatherings link.:thumbsup2 It's all becoming a lot clearer now, but one thing that I am still confused over is how the server will know how many people there will be on each KTTW?

We are in five separate rooms and if the DDP works per room that would mean handing over 5 separate cards with 5 separate individual checks, but how will the server know how many DDP credits and any extras to charge to each card?

I'm sure Disney has some sort of procedure for this, but I'm curious to know how this works in practice.

For instance if someone from the group asks our server for a bottle of wine. How will the server know which KTTW to charge?

Many thanks again.

The servers will keep 5 separate bills for your group. Just tell them when you're ordering who is with who. Your server will give each party an individualized bill showing the meals and any extras for each group. Splitting the bill is pretty simple at Disney.

I made reservations for 7 the other day and they told me that the gratuity would be included. I figured they must have changed it to parities of 6 or more.

Thanks,
Karen
