Hello:

For a person who does not have an ap (as the price is 50.00 for ap holders) is it still good value to buy the $75.00 DDE dining plan. Or is it a better option to go with the magicyourway dining instead.

Deb -

I believe DDE is open to Annual Passholders and Florida Residents. As a FL Res we find ourselves dining and enjoying beverages at Disney way too much. :sunny: So we get our money out of the membership.

If you are staying on Disney Property from what I've read the Disney Dining Plan is a much better value but has to be purchased in conjuntion with a Room and a Ticket at a Disney Resort.

Hope this helps!

It all depends how much you will spend on food and drinks. At $75 if you will spend over $400 in food and drink during your stay then you made your money back. There are quite a lot of good resturants to choose from as well. Now these places may tend to get more crowded because of the DDE but if you make a PS you should be good. I'm going in June and planning to get one. :smooth:

The way to look at this is to ask yourself if you would spend at least $375 on meals at WDW in a year. That is the "break even" point. You might want to check out the list of DDE restaurants here to see which restaurants you might eat at. Then check out the menus here to see the approximate prices.

I don't know much about the MYW package, so I can't help there.

Good luck! :flower:

Since your posts says you live in Canada, unless you also have a FL residence you would not be able to get DDE. At the beginning of the year there was an error and they sold it to anyone, but they have cracked down. If you don't have a FL addresss you have to give them your AP or AP voucher number.

Thanks everyone, I don't think I fit the bill, I am not unfortunately a florida resident (wish I were), and I do not have the annual passport, as we don't get down there too often.

I was really torn...but if you are figuring a long trip 10+ days with 4+ people( or even 2 shorter trips) I would say yes. The fact that pushed us over the edge is that we are going again with in 1 year, so like our AP, the DDE will save us money. I am saving $26 on 1 Chef Mickey with 10 persons. Then include the another PS, and another character meal...I think on this trip alone we will save a $100-130. I would try it if you are prone to eat at the participating locations anyway. Good Luck.

AP's are a good deal if you're planning multiple trips or want to use you AP to obtain hotel discounts at the more expensive resorts.

I'd guess if you're not going to benefit from an AP you're probably not going to be spending enough on meals to benefit from DDE.

tenaseewalker: When we used our DDE card in January for 4 people, the tip was never automatically added--I had to add it to the bill. I don't know if Disney has an automatic tip with X number of people. I've never travelled there with more than 4.

I am confused......
I thought the DDE is for anyone at $75.
Then AP get a DISCOUNTED card at $50.
I know it USED to be open only to Florida residents, but not anymore.

No it is still only for FL res. and AP holders. Just called to confirm.

I would say there is one exception, and that is if you are traveling with a larger group/family. A friend just came back from a trip with 18, she said that the suggestion of the DDE saved them hundereds(and they only stayed 7 days and got the MWY 10 php no expry). On her trip they were not all together all the time, but if you get 6-8 eating together, that bill adds up quick. They were also really smart and split up their dining to have 1 person with DDE with each group.

That is correct. There was some mis-communication and lack of training at the DDE office and some where able to get it for $75 without being a FL resident or being an AP holder at the beginning of the year.

They have since become much more strict because it is only for FL residents and AP holders and you must provide proof of FL residency or give your AP number or AP voucher number to obtain it.

Also the AP must be an adults AP as the card is for 21 years old or older being there is discounts on alcoholic beverages.
