My friend and I will be visiting WDW Dec 14-21 and returning after our cruise Jan 4-14. It looks like purchasing AP's will be the best option as we will have 17 days at the parks. We wont be returning during the year (we have to travel from New Zealand) but I think it still will be the best option.

My question is about the DDE card. I understand you can purchase the card for $60 and it will give you 20% discount on dinning at WDW. As we will be eating together all the time, can we just purchase the one card or do we need to purchase one card each? TIA

What a nice long holiday you have ahead of you!

As long as you will be dining together there's no need for an additional card.

You probably already know that it's not good everywhere. In general, it can be used at most table service restaurants at WDW excluding the Swolphin, some DTD and one or two Epcot restaurants. It's not good at most counter service places although there are exceptions there too. If you need more detail, let us know. But it sounds as if you've already done good research.

Happy planning!:surfweb:

We just got ours this week and it paid for itself in 4 days! :rotfl:
It does also discount alcohol at the places it is good at.
It is our second time having one and I highly recommend it.
Now if I could just get used to calling it Tables in Wonderland

we purchased one card last time and my bil and sil were with us. We used the card when we were at ts restaurants and also our resort. If you are staying at a resort that has no table service restaurants in it....Like value resorts, Pop Century included.and french quarter at Port Orleans ....you can use it there too......we saved alot of time and money using it........have a great vacation

Awesome! Thanks so much for the replies. It sounds like we should get one of the DDE cards. We are staying at Pop so we will be able to use it there to - cool! :thumbsup2 .

Thanks again.

You can also use it at many of the resort lounges. Extra plus.
One thing is you cannot split a bill and use one card. It's one card per ticket.

Chiming in with another rave for the DDE card. We do a lot of signature dining, with the valet parking and the discount on wine, we save so much money. If you plan to do a lot of Disney table service (or even a few meals with big groups) it's so worth it. FWIW.

Wait......did my eyes deceive me or did someone say the discount applies to alcohol too?? :worship: :worship:

Oh yes it does apply! That's where we get our money back from the initial fee ... possible dinner pre-drinks, a glass of wine at dinner, a night cap upon returning from the parks, spin around the monorail resorts ...
Oooh, 18 more days can't come quick enough. Lapu Lapu!!!

Oh wow - that's awesome!

Angey77 - that sounds like my kinda vacation!! Have a blast!! DH and I are leaving DD home in Jan and I plan to put that TIW/DDE card to good use!!

Important Reminder:
Remember that your server will also add a 18% gratuity to your bill so don't double tip. (Unless you want to give more than 18%)

I'm looking at getting the card, do I just call wdwdine or is there a special #?
Thanks

True, but there are ways around that. A table of 4 can not have the check split , and the discount applied to each. However, a table of 4 can have one check with the 20% discount, and pay the bill with two credit cards. Just tell your server to split it 50/50 or "Put $40 on Jim's card, and the rest on the other."

How long is the card good for once purchased? Do they expire? We are going in Jan and Dec of 09 and am wondering if I purchase the DDE card in Jan how long I can use it for?

The DDE card is good for one year from the month purchased, you should wait until just before you visit (you may even purchase the card while at WDW) in January then the card will be good for a year it will expire on the last day of January 2010.

Ours came last week with an expiration on Dec 2009. Not sure if that's b/c it's good for 13 mos or because we're going back in Dec '08. :confused3
