DDE Activation Date?

I have read that the DDE card date is activated when it is purchased. Does it last 12 months like the AP? Is there an advantage to ordering the card before your trip? Is there a disadvantage to buying it when you arrive at WDW?

The card takes some time to receive. I would order it about 4-6 weeks prior to your trip. The card will expire in one year from order, but it's good through the entire month. So let's say you order it Oct. 1, 2007, it won't expire until Oct. 31, 2007.

My AP expired on Aug. 7 of this year. I did not renew, but we had a trip beginning on Aug. 7. My DDE card was good through Aug. 31, so even though I did not have my AP anymore, I was still able to use the DDE.

I couldn't tell you about buying it on property, as I have never done that.

You can't buy a DDE membership in person. It has to be done by mail or phone. However, if you order it before your trip and it hasn't arrived before you head to WDW, you can pick it up at Epcot.

What if you aren't getting your AP's till you arrive at Disney (I have a un-used 1 day base ticket that I going to upgrade) It's my understanding that you can only get the DDE if you have an AP??
