I've read threads on suggested tipping %s and cash or room charge, but I'm interested in HOW MUCH you're tipping on in the DDDP. If you figure the DDDP breakdown like this: $60 3 meals, $3.90 6.5% meals tax, $4 2 snacks, and $2 refillable mug per day=$69.90, then the meals are worth around $60. 15% tip = $9 for the entire day, which is obviously too low. Do you get a receipt as to how much your meal would actually cost? Say app., entree, dessert at Calif Grill totals $50 before tax. Are you tipping on that amount? I was thinking of tipping somewhere in between the meal plan cost and what the meal would retail for, depending on service. Please tell me how YOU work this.

I'm tipping on what meal would cost if I were paying oop. For me (and I know it's a sticky topic), I'm going to go with 15% for average service and 18-20% for excellent service.

eta, yes, you will get a receipt for what the meal would've cost, and you'll get Disney's suggested 18 and 20% tips figured out for you, if that's how much you want to tip ...

The rule of thumb is always tip on the amount of the full check....so if your bill "would have been" 100, I would factor in paying $20.00 tip (I tip 20% for good service, others may tip more or less).

Just like if you were to go into a place to have dinner and you had a coupon for one free entree, you should base your tip on the amount of the full meal. They served a full meal afterall.

Since CG is signature your total per person will more likely be about $65 (app/entree/dessert /na beverage)--my total for 4 OOP is usually around $300 before tip. Anyway, you would tip 15-20% of the food and beverage total before tax. At CG, it would surprise me if your server were not very helpful and worth more than a 20% tip. I am by no means an over the top tipper, but at CG, AP and FF I have always tipped at 25%--the service and attention have been that good. The extra attention to detail , etc. Go prepared for excellent service and if you don't feel it was excellent then you can pare it down.
