DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I forgot to include Doc in my summary of the past week. He said to get off his lawn!
That is actually partially true.

I had a guy come over to give me a quote on what he'd charge to do my lawn. Neighbor pays $225 a month which isn't bad at all. Figured mine would be slightly more because it's all fenced, which means longer to weed eat. Well, the guy I called was not same guy. Actually, it was somone she found on that evil empire sight.

Anyway, he said he charged 80-90 an hour and it would take 2-3 hours. I can mow entire lawn in 1 hour flat(barring getting stuck and taking forever to get unstuck). Weed eating/edging/blowing maybe another 45 min possibly an hour

I'm thinking for someone who does this for a living...3 hours???? And even the low end $240?

While I didn't say it, I thought of telling him get off my lawn.

I sure wouldn't mind making $80/hour.
I know, right? I'm thinking...I make pretty good money, but not that good and you somehow thinking mowing lawns justifies that high of a rate? Walked away shaking my head and I think he got the mesaage. :lmao:

Like Rob said, we really only have one note we can play.
::yes::
5K.

It's part of the Fredericton Marathon Weekend. It's usually held on Mothers' Day but with the pandemic it was moved to September and the races are spread out over 3 days. The 5K is Friday night, the 10K is on Saturday and the half and full are on Sunday.
Ah.

I just saw that our Marathon is this Sunday. Had no idea.
I think it's just full and half marathons and I know (from experience) that I cannot do a half. Maybe someday... but not now. 10K, yes. More? No.

Morning, Fellas! Man, Holy Wind and Rainstorm Batman. The remnants of Hurricane Ida blew through last night, and we had 3 tornado warnings. The first one is what woke me up and then I stayed up until it was over. It's going to be a long day. Hope everyone is doing good. Have a good day, guys.

Whoa! I had no idea Ida went all that way up! Thought it petered out over Louisiana.

And yeah... gonna be a long day. Insomnia night last night. Always a joy.

Sorry to hear that. Knew there were tornados in NJ and PA and maybe MD (chief?). Didn't realize it made it to MA.

Glad to hear all are OK. We are starting to get the rain here this morning, luckily none of the wind.

And it's a bit cool.

Glad you made it through. We dodged most of the worst of it. PA and NJ got slammed pretty good.

Whoa! I had no idea Ida went all that way up! Thought it petered out over Louisiana.

It was a tropical depression by the time it got here, but still packed a punch. They had tornadoes in NJ and there are major flooding issues in Philly.

So glad everyone is safe from the storms, if not a little soggy.

My boss decided to close the company tomorrow so I get a 4 day weekend. I will be logging in from home for a couple of hours tomorrow but it is better than going into the office..

Now, it's time for grilled teriyaki chicken and salad fresh from the garden for dinner.

Morning, Fellas! Well, made it through the day yesterday without falling asleep. Today? That'll be another story. I am, however, working working with someone who likes to talk/interact, so that'll help.

On a side note, here are some more pics from my trip. These pictures are from the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge. I'm still working on the pictures from the cavers, but I'll post one pic from that side trip.

We did, and usually do if the winds are right. Usually we get a lot of rain, and wind, of course, but usually not that much wind. And apparently there was one tornado here on the Cape, though I don't think much damage was caused by it.

And yeah... gonna be a long day. Insomnia night last night. Always a joy.

Hope it wasn't too bad for you.

Tropical storms, or what's left of hurricanes, usually do make it up this way when the winds are right, so not out of the realm of possibility. Tornados? That's a bit different. We've now had 4 here on the Cape in the 15 years I've been here, but thankfully no serious damage.

Yeah, rain, flood warnings, t-storm watch, tornado watch… all day long. I’m good. :thumbsup2

I love a good rain storm, but hate when it's at night with the winds. I'd much rather have it happen during the day.

Yeah, tropical storms/depressions can still pack quite the punch. It was a tropical storm that dropped a tree into our roof back in 2007.

The storm shifted to the north of us, so we escaped pretty much unscathed. Some flooding in the northern end of the state and power outages. Not nearly as bad as the other states.

Glad you didn't get hit hard.

Wait! Nobody said he was good. Mediocre at best.

He's safely through the storm though.

Working from home is always a good thing.....happy for you. And that dinner sounds good.
