DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Made it to Tuesday and survived the Boards' hostage seizure. :sad2:

Disney has announced that people can remove their masks for pictures. Yet another idiocy rule for COVID. It was unsafe 6 months ago to remove them, but now OK, but only for pictures, and when you sit in a restaurant, but not when you sit waiting for pictures.

COVID knows when you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake. I guess some people just feel better with a perpetual # of changing rules to virtue signal some type of action works.

Morning, Gents! Wow! What was that? I apparently missed something from the looks of the posts below. Were the boards down due to a hacker? If that's the case that's kind of messed up. I would hope that the IT powers to be fixed that.

On a side note, things are going well. Had my first day flying solo on a reception desk at a primary care office and did, well, ok. No, I did ok, but things just kept coming up that I had to ask someone questions on, and thankfully someone was sitting close that I could lean on. That's it. Have a good day, everyone.

TTFN

Glad to hear it went well. It's nice to be able to have that person available to answer questions.

Nice to be back here! Lot of history would have just bit the dust if the DIS was not able to recover. Glad they did though. For those that don't use the book of face the good news with our family is that our little girl is going to be a mom and I'm gonna be a GrandPa! Pretty excited and wishing mom and baby al the health and safety possible! Bacon, Bourbon, Cigars and Mickey Bars!

So, have you picked a name? Grandpa? Pappaw? For Disney, Grumpy? Palpatine?

I had tooth bothering me all weekend. Ended up being abcesed. So, I spent most of the weekend in pain and/or trying to sleep. The dis wasn't on the radar.

Went to dentist yesterday, so last night was first good night of sleep in 4 days.

Sorry to hear about the tooth pain. I've got a cracked tooth, so I know it's a matter of time. Glad all is well.

Oh! That's good. Slow loosening of the rules as more and more get vaccinated, I presume.

What if you stand waiting for pictures. Or do yoga?

Interesting. What's a "man in the middle attack"?
Basically, you spoof the IP of the server or hijack the web session and put your(if you're one of the scumballs) between and answer traffic back and forth after having inserted yourself in the middle. Much more technically challenging, but many different exploits...all it takes is one to not be safeguarded against.

My kid likes it, but... she's the only one I know who does.
Elle or Kay. You brought me some. They weren't horrible, but I wouldn't buy them given other options.

Thanks. It was one I'd had a root canal on and a crown, but I really think the root canal wasn't done completely/correctly...many times when chewing, I'd get a twinge of pain. This was way past the twinge stage. If I may be so bold...get it fixed BEFORE it gives you problems/pain. I have a good tolerance for pain and dealt with it all weekend because emergency dentists charge an arm and a leg. Save yourself the pain and the money and get it before it hurts.

Interesting. Think I get it.

Kay. I brought some for other people too, fully knowing that it wouldn't be a hit. But... it was more of a "Here, try this, it's different."
I think most had the same experience you did. i.e. Too polite to say "That was horrible." :lmao:

What's up, Gents?! Had a nice day off yesterday, and now I'm off to another 2nd 10 hour day. You know, my first 10 hour day wasn't so bad. There was enough going on that it made the day go by. From what I understand, where I'm going to day is pretty busy, so the day should go by fairly quickly. That's it, have a good day, guys.

Not the first time from what I've heard.

Really? Wow. Sounds like they need to tighten their security measure a bite more.

Good to hear you survived. :thumbsup2

They're probably thinking that those who are taking the pictures are all in the same family group, so it should be ok. Now, if crowds start to get crazy, I can see that changing.

Man, I'm so glad she was there.

You're almost there....

What they were most assuredly thinking is we're not making any money from pictures....we have to do SOMETHING.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Thanks for the well wishes for the future grandkid. Seems like all are doing well so with that lets go over the half way mark.
Congratulations and give the other Happy Couple our Best Wishes!

Do they know the sex yet?
Not yet. My understanding is they are coming home the first weekend of May for a gender reveal party thing so can find out with family with them.
So, have you picked a name? Grandpa? Pappaw? For Disney, Grumpy? Palpatine?
Thinking Pappa (DD & DS grand father went by this) and/or Pa (my grand father)

It's bourbon Wednesday. I could have went with Weller 12 Wednesday, but I don't have any Weller bourbon. So, it was a Basil Hayden night. Think I'll go outside for a cigar. What a busy day. Covered 1/2 an extra floor for 1/2 a day, which means I covered 30 patients. Pass the egg nog!!!

Oh! That's good. Slow loosening of the rules as more and more get vaccinated, I presume.

I get the science of vaccines, so that's a good reason. But, I doubt there has been a scientific study of COVID spread outdoors waiting for photos now vs 6 months ago. There was a new study on sunlight being more effective in killing the COVID than other viruses, although, they weren't sure why.

And, there's never been a study of real life mask wearing conditions, which includes a representative population of people who don't change or wash their mask, or who touch the grocery cart, their cell phone, and their mask multiple times in the same trip.

Thanks. It was one I'd had a root canal on and a crown, but I really think the root canal wasn't done completely/correctly...many times when chewing, I'd get a twinge of pain. I've got an appointment. I probably should have had it.fixed last time.

Those can be some long days, but the time sure goes fast for me.

They're probably thinking that those who are taking the pictures are all in the same family group, so it should be ok. Now, if crowds start to get crazy, I can see that changing.

Except that was probably the same thing 6 months ago when it was unsafe for families to take off their masks for photos. And, with the new, no park hopping, registration system, they knew which people were in what group and in which park.

You're almost there....

What they were most assuredly thinking is we're not making any money from pictures....we have to do SOMETHING.

Hmmmm.....you mean there was other things besides science that made these rules? Inconceivable. :lmao:

Thinking Pappa (DD & DS grand father went by this) and/or Pa (my grand father)

And there was my oldest who named her grandma "gum-gum", a name that stuck for all the grandchildren. Good plan though.

No doubt.

Morning, Gents! Had a good day yesterday in what is supposed to be the busiest primary office in the system. It was busy, just not as bad as I thought....maybe it was an off day. So basically it was a good day. I did get an email from my manager asking if I'd be willing to work 2 days a week in my old department working on faxes. I'd be working 2 days as a Fax Server Coordinator and 2 days as a Floating Receptionist. If they can swing it, I'll be able to work 2 days a week from home, Mondays and Fridays,. I did mentioned to my manager that I'd need a computer to log into to work from home, and she said she'd look into it, so we'll see how it goes. But to be able to work from home on Mondays and Fridays during the summer is a sweet deal. If I can get it. Well, have a good day, gents.

They are long days, but surprisingly it goes by fairly quickly...maybe because it's still a new thing for me.

Hey fellas, just checking in. We had another 24-hour getaway as my boys and wife are on spring break this week. We took a drive up to State College, PA to see the campus of Penn State University as we start looking at colleges for my oldest son. Can't do official tours but we do pretty well on our own. We also had a stop in Hershey at the chocolate factory and made it to Philadelphia for the Phillies game yesterday in some beautiful weather. With only 10,000 fans allowed, I've never had an easier time dealing with traffic after the game.

Hope that works out for you. Not having to commute for a couple of days would be just fine.

Pretty soon it's just gonna be you, Julie and Drew at home.

So there's an upside to a global pandemic!
