DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Home from meeting. A 5 hour round trip commute to learn that I am not appreciated and it's time to go. Sure, they can't say that explicitly, but one is encouraged to read between the lines. So, it's a waiting time to retirement. Looks like January 2021 or shortly thereafter.

Meetings. Because none of us is as unproductive as all of us.

::yes:: See above.

Never though of using my phone to get on the Dis. I use it for everything else. hahaha

Glad I could help.

Ouch. At least you have the option of retiring. I hope you make it to a warm, sunny beach soon.

Thanks. Still awake. Can't sleep. Not sure why. I'm not worried about money or the future. I already have another job, and this would be retirement income on top of that.

Morning, folks.

15 more minutes and I'm out of here. But tomorrow is a day off... maybe. Probably.
But I said that about the last two days too, so...

Officially announcing that for the next 5 months I DO NOT HAVE A TEENAGER IN THE HOUSE!!!

Oldest (step)daughter turns 20 today. How the $#@& did that happen?!?

I always find it amusing how almost all of us (maybe all of us) tend to DIS while we're working.
True. 90% of my DIS time is at work. It's the only time I am in front of a computer, for the most part (home is usually just a phone.
Generally, I go on when trying to get things going in the morning, during coffee or lunch breaks.

Interesting. Not a big rum guy, but if you're buying, then I'm drinking.
Hey, if someone else is buying, I'll drink almost anything.

Happy Tuesday. Today is a better day. I watched the last hour of Avengers: Endgame again. Happy to see good win in the end. I still don't get out Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel couldn't defeat Thanos. In this movie series, they are both created by Infinity Stones which are more powerful. But, they had to do it this way for the next set of characters.

Happy birthday to her. She's still in the house, just not a teenager, right?

Don't ask me. I've been struggling with the same kind of question lately.

Well, that would have been a much shorter movie.

And the great spring thaw has begun (early) in Minnesota. Looks like no sustained freezing weather for the next 2-weeks+. Time to go from cold but "clean", to the muck of early spring. I'm hoping that this year our yard doesn't flood like it did last year. We had more snow last year, but a longer/slower thaw.. looks like this year's thaw is going to be fast and furious.

Trip #2 is booked. Sadly, OKW was missing a few days, and I just really don't like split stays. So, I booked a week at SSR and will waitlist OKW. Both similar resorts, but OKW is way points cheaper. Now, we have 12 days booked in July and a week in October, booked flights, booked Wild Africa Trek, and still need to buy APs. We will spend more on vacation without ever going there. :lmao::sad2:
Hope your waitlist works out for OKW but hey, 12 days straight at DaWorld is great no matter where you are at, and two trips can't be beat.

Sorry to hear about the job issues but I think you have a plan so lookout Florida 8-)

Welcome to the both of you to the club of no more "little" kids. I'ts not that bad IMO until you hit the full blown empty nest thing. I'll be honest, we enjoy our own time and there are some advantages but I do miss having them around full time.

Yes, she's still in the house, at least for a couple years I expect until she finishes her university degree. Then we'll see. She has aspiration to go to medical school for psychiatry, so who knows where she'll be living...or what she can afford.

My youngest will turn 13 in August so I'll be back to the teenage years soon enough.

Wondering how the Red river valley is going to handle this.

Yeesh.. In the past decade, I feel like the RRV has turned into the north's New Orleans, in that it is just waiting for mother nature to mess their #$^% up. It seems like every other year they are having a 100-year flood. Not fun. Makes me thankful that I only have to worry about a pond that occasionally floods our yard in the spring.

We're not quite there yet, but it's a matter of months now before my oldest moves on. It's going to be a strange adjustment, for sure.

Happy Wednesday. More load management today. After a difficult January, the keto train is rolling and I've got a decent 30 minute work out routine going with through laundry rack, er um, treadmill and some dumbbells. The inanimate dumbbells - not me. It was warm here yesterday and the sun is out. I'm hoping we are done with winter.

Don't know if you're a Honest Trailers fan. I watch them on YouTube. Basically a 7 minute movie trailer of sarcastic humor about the actual movie - with that movie trailer voice. They have lots of clips, and I think they are hilarious. I couldn't figure out how to post a YouTube link, so added a screenshot. In that Endgame clip, they point that out.

Yeah, BWV followed up by a SSR or OKW trip is terrific. Definitely looking forward to it. We are saving so much money with APs this year. :lmao:

That's a rewarding but potentially expensive degree. Good luck to her.

A friend posted a Facebook memory picture about the flooding of the Ohio River 15-20 years ago. The water was over the flood wall and over first street. I forgot about that.

Afternoon gents! Those tornado that came through Nashville the other night has devastated some areas. Prayers go out to those who lost loved ones, a bit too close for my liking. Wish me luck as I will be rope dropping HS Sunday morning so will be one of the first to RD HS with Galaxies Edge, TSL and M&MRR. Plan is to RD Slinky and get boarding pass for ROTR with Breakfast at Oga's Cantina and FP+ for RNR, TSM and Millenium Falcon.
We have a FP+ for M&MRR later in the week and will RD this on a weekday when we have FP+ for SDD.

Definitely easier when one heads out of the house and still one or two left to help mom and dad transition

Morning gents. Anyone affected by the twisters in Nashville? Or anyone have any first-hand experience (family/friend/acquaintance) with COVID-19?

Our city took a major hit (just like Grand Forks in '97) way back in the day and we built a massive diversion channel around us. It's saved our bacon several times since then.

Thanks for clarifying

Evening chaps from a desolate Bordeaux Airport. Last but one flight out of here and hoping that the ATC's don't walk out on strike like they are threatening to do.
Hope everyone is well and Hi to the new guys.

Dole whips, Bacon, etc.

I love Honest Trailers. Can't remember if I watched the Endgame one or not, but some of them are hysterical.

Our little guy will be around for a while. He's still in kindergarten. What do they call it? "Keeping us young"?

Anyone affected by the twisters in Nashville?

Mike lives near there. Sounded like he was ok, though.

Or anyone have any first-hand experience (family/friend/acquaintance) with COVID-19?

Not yet, but today is a new day!

Good to hear from you, Dan! Hope you don't have to swim home.
