DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
DW said that she has now lived with me longer than anyone else. I told her congratulations and condolences in the same sentence.

:rotfl2: I usually say something similar to my wife.

Evening Guys,

made it back from our little getaway and the house seems to be in one piece. Declan seems to be no worse for wear so we seem to have come through the with flying colours, well for now anyways. ;)

Had a great trip couple of days away with DW. We went with no plan and pretty much stayed that way. Saturday ended up being an impromptu pub crawl of sorts. We walked around the Halifax waterfront for about 5 hours and stopped at a few pubs to enjoy a sample of the local craft brews and ciders. All in all a lovely day.

Glad you had a great time, and that Declan was able to hide the evidence of--

Glad you made it back and that Declan was smart enough to hide the evidence of the epic party.

Crap. Norm beat me to the joke.

Feeling left out??? I'm freaking working!!!!
8 hours this morning and then 8 hours tonight.

:faint: I think you're doing this "Labour Day" thing wrong.

If she takes the meatball, don't marry her. High maintenance avoidance 101.

I've told my boys: if you learn nothing else from me, learn this: Marry a low-maintenance woman.

It's fantastic. If you ever get there, let me know, and I'll give you my "Ron notes" of restaurants and cool stuff.

I also hope to travel in Europe someday, and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Morning Guys.

First day with students here today for most schools. DS as a grade 12 students starts tomorrow, so he's enjoying that last day of freedom by sleeping him. Jokes on him though as I just got him up because I have to do some more work in the bathroom. Piece of drywall at the end of the shower was a bit wet so I have to replace it. Oh well, it was time for him to get up anyways.

Morning chaps from a sunny London. Got back midnight last night, after getting to Rome airport in what felt like a real life version of Crazy Taxi. This is a very weird feeling, not having a major dose of jet lag. We've given the kids a tech day today, we have a ton of stuff to do and they go back to school tomorrow. I'll try and put some photos up later.
Enjoy your 4 day week.

Welcome back! Did you miss us?

That's going to be different this year.

Orientation.....I don't think it will be much like my frosh week in the early 80s.

What is she enrolled in?

Grade 6, is that middle school over there?

Good Morning
Morning, and welcome to this little corner of the interwebbybob.

Desperately.

Good luck with that sunshine, hope she gets on OK. What's she studying?

Done. Let me know, when you're on your way. You'll feel at home, in August there's more Americans in Rome than Italians.

She's starting a year of general studies but focusing on science and psychology. She's looking at behavioural neuroscience as an undergrad degree (I had never heard of it before) with high and lofty plans to go into medicine.

It's the last year of Elementary school (grades 4-6). She did K-grade 3 in a Primary school and will move on to Junior High (grade 7-9) after this year, with High school in grade 10-12. That's four different schools. Not too many places here have that many school changes.

It really depends where you live and the population. Some places have schools K-6 and 7-12, other small towns have everything under one roof.

Most around here are K-5, 6-9 and 9-12 for high school. There are only 2 high schools in this city of about 2000 students each. Some parts of the Province have K-8 in the same school.

Sorry there is a French high school as well but that school is K-12.

This is all hurting my brain.

‘Morning all…
Back from a week on the coast working hard to accomplish a sum total of not much.
Do believe I succeeded.

Of course once we got home Sunday, I had to go into work and the same thing applied for yesterday’s so-called “holiday”. At least I didn’t get called while I was on vacation (which is somewhat unusual)

A happy belated anniversary to Norm.

And apparently all of the rest of ya’ need to watch your health
(including me, as our house officially went on both dietary and monetary rationing as of yesterday).

I likely will be Rob, but...
Since BWV is not my home resort, the earliest I'd be able to book for you is 7 months prior.
Looks like I might end up using my points in 2019 after all.
Appreciate you thinking about me there, but better that you can use them for your family.
Hope you don’t have as many issues with this trip.

I’m the same as Doc, Rob, I own at Poly if you want me to try, I should have spare next year as I banked my 2018 points due to my cancelled trip.
Thanks for the offer and I may well take you up on that.

We’re still in thinkn’/plannin’ mode. We may try to rent points, we may go down but stay off site, we may not go at all. In the next little bit I hope to get a clearer idea of what’s possible, and I’ll check back with you to see what we can and can’t do.

We are going in two weeks and I book BWV at the 7 month mark.
Well, knowing that it’s not impossible makes me feel a smidgen better…

We could also pick another spot if points are available but BWV ain’t (say like AKV or OKW), or we might stay off site. There are actually a number of other issues that I need to straighten out first before we could commit to a trip next year anyway. We’ll see how things shake out across the next month or so.

It's called "DISdads Exchange Marketplace" and I just added you.
Thank you sir, I’ll check that out this evening if I get a chance
(can’t access FB while at work).

I've told my boys: if you learn nothing else from me, learn this: Marry a low-maintenance woman.
Very true…
But the trick is finding one that is willing to lower her standards enough for you to even have a shot.
(still don’t know how I lucked into that bit of the equation)

Wait... I wasn’t supposed to labour????
No, you were…
I wasn’t

Neither of us won on that one.

Good Morning
‘Morning and welcome!
Always good to see new folks drop in ‘round here.

Intriguing…
So she’ll be learning in depth that not only are we all nuts…
but everyone here is brain damaged as well.

Happy double Monday everyone. Welcome back to the grind for those lucky enough to have been off yesterday. Why does it seem like even though the office was closed the amount of work I was expected to do for that day is still there and it has to be done today on top of today's work? i should have worked both jobs yesterday not just 1.

This is all hurting my brain.

Too much vino in Rome?
