DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Yep, we are the same. We always do MK first (I agree with Darcy, Parks always start with a view of the Castle), plot in whatever follows, then anywhere we want to scope out for next holiday and then fill in the gaps.

Sorry mate, I might have been a bit glib with my answer (as is my predeliction as a Brit). English football fandom is pretty tribal. I never root for another team, irrespective of the minor impact it may or may not have on West Ham's position. So therefore I'm not rooting for either, I only care about West Ham, hence my answer. There are teams I look out for the score on, such as Charlton, as my now departed favourite uncle supported them, but I would never cheer them on or go to a game, or really care about the result.

There only a couple of exceptions to this. Anyone below the championship who is in the FA cup against a big team gets cheered on to an extent. If it were down to one game and a team needed to do us a favour to keep us up in the Premiership may get a nod. But only in the context of breathing out and winking at your mates if they pull off the favour. On the flip side of that, there are the extremes of ridiculousness, one of my mates is a Leeds fan, and has often said he would rather see Man U lose than his own team win. That's just bonkers.

Why the Cherries? Is that a family thing? Been to Dean Court a couple of times. Proper old school ground.

I started getting interested in Premier League football in the Fall of 2015. After a while I decided I should find a team to root for. I didn't want to just pick a top team unless I could make a good case for it. Arsenal would have been close since my career as a US Army civilian took place at an arsenal and half my time there was with field artillery so the Gunners nickname would have fit. I even worked on a program to acquire a British system for US use but it still seemed a bit thin. As to Bournemouth, there is a town to the east of there near the Western edge of the New Forest National Park that shares my last name so I thought that fit more with the idea of a 'hometown' team. More traditional. Plus I liked the idea that they had just been promoted so I could cheer them on against the odds.

Happy Thursday. Fun day at tennis last night. Managed to break two strings on the racquet, but at least they were in the center. It has been time to re-string that racquet for awhile anyway. Finishing up on campus and then heading to the church tonight. I hope to manage 30 minutes with the family in between jobs.

Top O the Mornin Dads! DD & DW have last planning / details meeting with the wedding venue today - includes giving them the check I wrote out last night for final payment :crazy2:. Work is a real PITA these days but all is good on the family side which is what matters anyway. Thank goodness for Dan who puts us ahead in the day.
.

Well, at least it is the final payment.

Top O the Mornin Dads and happy Friday Eve! Where'd everyone go? One should not be the last post of a day and the first post the next morning........... Have a good one.

No, it shouldn't be so. Sorry we left you alone in the clubhouse.

I never really picked a team, but I do like individual players. The Chelsea squad a few seasons ago was fun to watch with Hazzard. The season with Vardy and Leicester city was fun to see such an unexpected team make a run like that. I played back in HS, and still enjoy watching soccer/ futbal. I occasionally get MLS or German league match. All the on-field interpreted rules of the NFL and different punishment levels favoring certain teams have made that an uncompetitive league, and it feels more like watching WWE sometimes.

Just got back from two and half days at WDW for a little 35th anniversary trip. Stayed at The Beach Club and hit MK and Epcot.
Still waiting to hear about the job but it's only been a month.

Anytime at Disney is a good time. We are staying at the Poly in July but I haven't planned any park time. This is our first and only time to the Poly, and I don't want to spend any time away from the resort. I'm sure the family has other plans.

And, she is over the loss. She already asked to play in a tournament at the end of the month.
Attagirl.

What Norm said.
Where'd everyone go?
Crazy busy on a Weds and a Thursday. Nice one on being the nightwatchman.

Got my 10 week "time to empty your bank account" email from Disney today, so look forward to that in 2 weeks.
Have a good evening chaps.

Morning guys and happy Friday. Doing a lot of running around today so I expect it will be a busy day but not get much done.

ncludes giving them the check I wrote out last night for final payment :crazy2:.

Ouch!

The river is still at flood level but the city itself is ok.

Glad you are high and dry. Some of the flooding pictures I've seen are pretty awful.

Hope you hear about the job soon and congrats on the 35th anniversary trip.

You may want to think about easing back on that 100 mph serve of yours.

Morning Guys.

Finally a sunny day up here, I sure hope it lasts.

DW thinks she found a vehicle so I'm taking to check it out this later this afternoon. She's done all the negotiations so far; these sales guys don't know what they are getting into. ;)

You should drive; it would be easier.

I can't imagine going worrying about that every year, I guess that's why I wouldn't by a house on a flood plain.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Friday is here and it's been a long week already. Bridal shower is tomorrow so I think DS and me may check out Guardians of the Galaxy. I know we hit EPCOT last Friday for Cinco de Mayo but may a suggest a return trip to the mark but hit Rose & Crown Pub which I make sure to hit every visit. Just need Dan to come along in a bit and call it a day.

Hope the boat gig comes through for you. Sorry about calling a possible return trip to Rose & Crown Pub for ya.

Good morning everyone. It is Friday, but I can't call it yet. I've got to work my hours at the church this afternoon/evening. It's been an extra long week of driving to campus, and I'm looking forward to Saturday off.

Got my 10 week "time to empty your bank account" email from Disney today, so look forward to that in 2 weeks.

:lmao: :sad1:

I don't know if I can get 100 mph anymore, but it's probably still close. I don't have enough endurance to hit as hard as possible on every shot anymore.

.

Sounds like a keeper. My DW is like that as well, and I just let her do her thing.

I can't imagine going worrying about that every year, I guess that's why I wouldn't by a house on a flood plain.

Surprisingly, that term "flood plain" is connected with most real estate properties, or at least that is what a Disney bus driver told me. :lmao:

My subdivision was built on a purchased farm land, and technically, the property is on a 125 year flood plain. But, that is apparently a standard which means I don't have to have flood insurance. It was developed in 2000, and they had to build drainage retention areas/ water flow as well. So, I don't know if that 125 year would even be accurate.

OK boys. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one in the Rose and Crown for a cheeky Innis & Gunn doesn't get the opportunity to take Jasmine home. And let me tell ya, if she asks if you want to see her Cave of Wonder, say YES.

OK, but just be warned if she asks you to find her diamond in the rough.
Everyone knows it's under the magic carpet
Nicely done gentlemen.

I don't have any I&G on hand but I'll bust out one of my Holy City brews in your honor.

For the love of God be careful if you do a Google search on Jamine's Cave of Wonder! ;)
So...
Wait until I get back home for that one.
Got it. :thumbsup2

I am waiting a bit today. Picking up the kid later this afternoon at school. As a reward, I get to buy her a drink at the bar they have there. Not sure what kind of stock they have but she will get one of their better beers while I have my customary Bid Light. Sorry but that is how I roll.

I would imagine any beer you get to drink with your kids is good beer. I know I'm looking forward to it and the boy is only 6 mate. Have a good one with the PP

Thanks for calling it Dan. I'm sure you guys know but last night was final showing of Wishes at MK. New show starts tonight and will be live stream on Disney Parks Blog. Enjoy the weekend gents.

As long as it's a Bud, enjoy the beverage with the PP - my DD seems to be partial to a lemon drop martini or a one of the hard lemonade things.
