DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
In light of recent events that have been in all the world's news recently.
(Something about a wall and not paying for it??)
And in a celebration of solidarity with my friends south of the 49th parallel...

I treated my family to a nice, all American dinner.

I made tacos, soft tacos and burritos smothered in enchilada sauce served with Mexican rice.

Did you get the stuff from a truck on the corner?

Morning fellas. No hangover today. I finally figured out how to drink enough over many hours to both enjoy my surroundings without having to pay for it in the morning. We will be putting up Christmas decorations today.

Sounds like a great meal to me.

We had a nice Thanksgiving and Sounds like even Norm got through his family yesterday. Outdoor decorations all done as I got everything hooked up to power today along with cleaning up leaves. Based on the warmer weather I still have some trees that ain't lost a single leaf yet - gonna be cleaning this stuff up until Christmas. Tonight we coordinate the outdoor timers and trim the main tree in the house. Enjoying a cigar and bourbon right now until the Blackhawks play a mid afternoon game. Have a great weekend.
Happy Thanksgiving fellas. First in-law gathering in 90 minutes. I've started drinking already - triple bourbon, neat, and finished up the last of my Four Roses. I probably should have eaten something, as my fingers are already numb. I did fill my flask before I started drinking, which holds over seven shots of Crown Royal today. So, to my Canadian brothers, I'll be drinking and saluting you. Don't worry, I get to return home and refill the flask before the next Armageddon, er um, inlaw visit. :lmao:
Good to hear the alcohol helped and that were able to get in some football.

For the next few days avoid Little Havana in Miami, especially Cafe Versailles and La Carreta.

A bit quiet in here today. I guess you're all enjoying your post-Thanksgiving weekend (or recovering from it?). I'm counting down to going home. I'm on my last week of overseas rotation for this hitch. Might start listening to some Christmas music this week to get in the mood. I'll get to decorating as soon as I get home, I expect.

Happy late Saturday evening. Played tennis this AM, went small business shopping, and walked thru a city park decorated with Christmas lights. Not many good deals here unfortunately.

and drinking?

Pirate.

Cigar and bourbon sounds great. Maybe we need to plan a DisDad cigar & bourbon meet in TN next summer.

That's it. Calling it. Week over. Everyone out.

I've been out since Monday.

I wondered what the impact would be down in your area.

Yes, not much traffic here, but still quality posting.

Hello gents. Quiet here? Time to blab.
Tomorrow is Grey Cup Sunday up here. It's like Super Bowl, but with more than twice the history. I've got a pot roast recipe that I've been waiting to try, so bought one tonight. Goes in the slow cooker tomorrow morning. Also bought some flavoured popcorn to munch on later on..... And then DD15 reminds me that she has her concert tomorrow night at 7. (Game starts at 5:30.) Crap.
Oh, well.... PVRing it anyway.

Happy Sunday. Looks like several of our football teams fell yesterday. Not sure how UL, a 28 point favorite at home, lost to a pathetic UK team, but it happened. I hope this doesn't derail Jackson's Heisman chance, although, I think it will. He matched the other winning QBs with 20/20 passing/ rushing TDs, but the media has their favorites already. Made it to the gym this morning, and nothing else on the schedule until Mass this evening. It will be nice to relax and watch some football.

It always seems to work that way, and watching it the day after just isn't the same. Good luck making it thru without hearing the score.

Been sicker than a dog this whole week. Moral of the story, get your flu shot earlier. Thanksgiving was basically a fog, I even burnt the gravy. That never happened before. At least the turkey was moist and and tasty (I guess). Hopefully I shake it soon, too much to do this month.

Glad no one was injured or went to jail. Hope your wife appreciates the restraint you show every holiday. No football Thanksgiving? Un-American.

If I could make it, I'd be there for that.

For over a decade the county was preparing for the day he died. They had a good plan in place and it seemed like it worked. They closed a couple or roads, no injures or arrests. Those that wanted, went to the usual exile places, bashed spoons and pans waved flags and basically partied. Pretty much died down by now.

Gators got spanked yesterday. The injuries and third straight game on the road caught up with them. The UL game was surprising. Don't think it will cost Jackson the Heisman but it got a little closer.

Afternoon gents. Got called into work just as I was putting a potroast in the slow cooker.
Should (I hope!) be done soon after I get home. New recipe, so we'll see how it turns out.

Good luck making it thru without hearing the score.

I should be okay. The radio will be OFF for the drive.

Been sicker than a dog this whole week. Moral of the story, get your flu shot earlier.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Well, so much for a restful day. Filled in and played doubles with a group. Not a challenging match, but on a two hour rest from the gym made it more difficult. I think the beans n rice I had for lunch gave me some turbo boost during points. :lmao:

Well, I'll put you down for that. I'll depend on Mike for location. Philip is close by, Nate is further. A few live in Louisville. Let's see what we can work out.

Hope you feel better. I got my flu shot earlier in November.

Let us know how it turns out. Better yet, if it is really good, make me one and ship it to me. :rotfl:

Evening boys. Watched my West Ham take Man U to the wire, and almost nick it with a minute to go. A draw at Old Trafford is no shame. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Starting to plan the April trip over to you lovely people, which may or may not include da World, whilst watching Carolina @ Oakland which is not really one for the ages. So I''m now watching the S Carolina @ Clemson game.

I'm in. Virtually. Maybe a facetime from my back garden.

Buddy, I don't think a couple of weeks go by without you being called in on what seems ridiculous notice. Can they not get good people to help out, or are you that guy that knows it inside out?
Hopefully I shake it soon, too much to do this month.
All the best CJ, hope you shake that bad boy off.

It's interesting to watch the difference in coverage from the European channels to the US ones. Do you think things will loosen up and it will start to be a tourist destination again, or is that way too far off? It's a pretty popular destination from here, although it's never really floated my boat.

About to watch the build up, will PVR the rest, which will be a relief from the raiders game.
*EDIT* Well I didn't expect to see Prince Harry in the build up....

So, like Super Bowl, but better. :rotfl2:
I don't really watch CFL much, but when I am home I usually watch the Grey Cup. Of course I'm stuck overseas until this weekend, so I'm reduced to checking the scoreboard on the TSN website. I tried to figure out a way to watch online streaming but too many hurdles in the way ("this content cannot be viewed in your region" o_O)

Hope you're feeling better soon. Must have been a bad flu to burn the gravy.

Let us know how it turns out. I enjoy a slow cooker roast, but I usually just throw it in with beef broth and plain old salt & pepper, a little onion powder. Boring I know.

That would get the job done! One of my winter comfort foods is beans & bologna. I am usually under threat of sleeping on the couch those nights, especially if it's too cold to crack open a window. :lmao:

You get CFL in the UK too? Cool.

Evening Guys.

Finished up our busiest weekend of the year with our annual sport awards gala last night. Always a great evening but not leaving the hospitality suite until 3 am makes for an even longer weekend. Managed two naps today sandwiched around a high school basketball game.

Did see some of the West Ham/Man U game today; West Ham certainly did have their chances.
