DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Good man. Come on you Irons! First win in a while, and that sending off was a £$%&ing joke. It is teeming down in London today.
Hopefully the cubs can make it 2 teams in a night for the Hall household.
....

I thought the center ref missed a few calls, listened to much to the AR, and then tried to do some make up calls, which never work. Yes, two yellow cards in a minute? I don't think either warranted a card. The 2nd was a foul, but not a yellow. Was the first one for flopping? It looked like the other team clipped him though.

CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! 4 down 7 to go.

Let's go CUBS!

As a 51 year Cubs fan going to Wrigley with my Dad as kid on a regular basis and even mine and DW first date was a Cubs game, this is pretty special and I only hope they go all the way this year, finally.

Yup, more pictures from Mike. Go Cubs.

Quite a few of them . In the liquor cabinet from the great Commonwealth of Kentucky (as no one ever knows what else to buy me for xmas) I have Willets, Old Weller 12 yo, Buffalo Trace, Noah's Mill, Woodfords Double Oaked, Blantons, Elijah Craig, Evan Williams and a Bulleit Rye, which I haven't tried yet.
Someone brought round JD once, but they weren't allowed back. Which is obviously from Tenn.

Were you having the Tequila straight? No ice? Thats a lovely drink. Might put that one on the Xmas list.
?

Of course, lick, shoot, suck. Salt, shot of tequila, and lime wedge. Other than body shots, the only other acceptable way to drink tequila is a margarita.

That is a nice bourbon collection. I haven't had Willets, Old Weller, or Noah's Mill, but I think i have tried the others. I tend to just go through one bourbon and then open the next one. And, completely agree with you on Jack Daniels. Who ever though adding charcoal would be a good idea. What a waste of spirits. :furious:

Oh shucks. Now I have to drink more Bourbon, to keep 'em on a roll. Hey Chicago, what do you say?

That's an impressive collection you got there. Haven't tried all of them, but have had most of them in my cabinet at one time or another. Gotta say, Blantons has to be my favorite. So smooth it's dangerous.

Hey Guys,

Not here for a few days and am sure I missed a lot of stuff. Promise I will go back and read everything. OK, I'm lying.

Crazy week. Picked up my buddy from the UK on Monday and ended up running a round a lot. Spent a couple of days in the Keys and had a diving day. The Kid spotted two Spider Crabs on the sea floor, both with their arms extended, circling each other. Here are two screen shots taken from a video.

They would dance around for a bit and then go after each other. We later laughed because it was just like the crabs in the Finding Nemo scene yelling, Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Yesterday we went out on the shark tagging boat. Interesting operation. They tagged a Nurse, Lemon and a Tiger. The Tiger is a rare find off Miami's shores and the shark guys were pumped. Pretty cool and I thought interesting. They don't allow cameras on the boat so have to wait until they post some pictures.

Morning Guys.

Looks like it was a busy weekend in here. I was away most of weekend for a team building weekend with our Canada Games Mission Staff. WE should have a good group in Winnipeg next summer. Finished off our soccer semi-final last night as well. We won 2-1 to take the 2 game series 4-2. Nice to knock off the regular season champs, especially since it was the team 5 of us played with last season. Down to a 1 game final next Sunday for all the marbles.

Right now I'm sitting in the Toronto airport waiting for a flight to Ottawa so I can talk to some politicians about sports.

Have a good one.

Cool crab pictures Cj, that would be neat to see. Why don't they allow cameras on the shark boat?

Did you see the video that was going around last week about the Great White that got in the shark cage with the diver?

'Morning all...
As the punch line goes...
Breaks over; back on your heads!

I decided it was time to become a two car family. Picked up a 2013 Honda Civic this morning. Much better for a new driver to handle rather than a van. Don't like spending the money, but I also didn't like heading out at 10:00 on a Saturday night to pick her up from work, so I'll choose to look at the pros rather than cons.
Sometimes it's just a whole lot easier to let 'em do their own driving.
Still scary as heck when they're fist hitting the road though.
Good vehicle choice; those are reliable enough to alleviate some of the worry about her being stranded somewhere.
(so long as she's good about keeping an eye on the fuel levels, that is)

I'll ask the tennis center if they accept 1,329,063 dollar bills, and then you can mail me some.
Here ya' go. Just in case...

Mad_Magazine_Game_fake_%241329063_bill.jpg

but I suppose it's not very "cool" to be seen driving a minivan when you're 17!
It's not very "cool" for any living human to be seen driving a minivan...
But the one I'm stuck with is paid for and does the require job of hauling crap around so I can live with that.

Wouldn't a Blue Jays-Cubs World Series be interesting? :scratchin
A Cubs-Indians series would be more historically interesting, but I don't have an allegiance to any of them so I'll just enjoy the show regardless.

Quite the weekend of adventures.
The life of CJ continues to impress.

On three days off at they've started with a bang. Well, more of a thud... and I feel terrible about it.
Was about to take DD15 to school and collapsed in front of her. Threw my back out and dropped like a rock. Freaked her out.
Guess I'll spend my days off in bed.

Still haven't seen it, but pretty cool vid caps!
And finding a Tiger off the coast of Miami?
Just one more reason why I won't go swimming in the ocean there.

An oldie but a goody.

Did you see the video that was going around last week about the Great White that got in the shark cage with the diver?

A number of reasons. Some of their methodology and research is proprietary until they publish it. They had someone document their program and started the same thing at another University. Also I imagine they don't want to see a Youtube video of a staff member getting knocked off the boat. It happens and is not a big deal but people can sensationalize it.

Daniel, an old time member sent it to me via Facebook. Wild video. Once the shark got in, he was only looking for a way out and not interested in eating at that point. Surprised the diver didn't get smashed by the shark as it panicked. Lucky guy.

Sometimes it's just a whole lot easier to let 'em do their own driving.
Still scary as heck when they're fist hitting the road though.

He speekith from experience. Good solid choice for a first time driver.

Damn! Sorry to hear about the back and hope it heals quickly so you can enjoy a day or two off. Maybe you can use the incident to your advantage the next time you want her to do something.

They are out there. Tigers are rare but not unheard of off our coast. The Lemon and the Tiger were previously tagged from other areas. The Lemon was tagged in Bimini and they have to check the database on the Tiger. They were pumped.

Was the first one for flopping? It looked like the other team clipped him though.
Yep, the first one was for diving in the penalty area. Its a shame, because he brings shape to us, and we lose him for a game now, as you can't appeal 2 yellows, only a straight red
Gotta say, Blantons has to be my favorite. So smooth it's dangerous.
I really do enjoy a Blantons. Probably the best one to have with a cheeky cigar, because as you say its so smooth, it takes the edge of the cigar.
I haven't had Willets, Old Weller, or Noah's Mill
Old Weller tastes a lot like Pappy van Winkle, but without the murderous price tag. Willets is pretty much my favourite. Cool bottle as well.
Pretty cool and I thought interesting.
CJ wins the "What I did at the weekend" badge. Again.
Down to a 1 game final next Sunday for all the marbles
Good luck on Sunday. You watching the Man Utd game tonight?
Threw my back out and dropped like a rock
All the best PKondz, hope your back is not too much trouble.

DW is out tonight, the kids are in bed, so its sports night.

Mike, keep the faith, I am sure it will be decided at Wrigley. Baez's double out was a thing of beauty.

Happy Monday fellas. Mike must be depressed today, but there are still many games to go in the series.

Congrats on the win and good luck in the championship game. Does this put your club into the Premier League if you win? :lmao:

Thanks for the money. I'll print it out and see if it works. :lmao:

Thanks guys. At least I did it at home this time and not in Venice!
Still, it looks like a real nice day out... perfect for taking the brand new Harley for a spin.... damn.

Hope it's better soon.

I'll look for Willets here, although don't recognize the brand. But, it's not a name I'm looking for. There is a local restaurant here, a four story 100 year old home converted to a restaurant. The basement is a bourbon bar, and features 100+ bourbons. They may have it. If you ever make it to KY, CJ will drive up and buy us a round.

What makes you think we aren't now?

True. You are wearing #10, right? Or, does your jersey say Vardy on the back? :lmao:

Top O the Mornin Dads! Dealing with way to much @#^$%@*^ at work with next year's budget and strategy development so just stopping quick to say hey.

Good Morning Men!

Have been crazy busy so not in here or on FB for a while. Spotty attendance at best. Hope all are OK. Sending congrats, pixie dust and best wishes to those deserving and prayers for those needed such.

Basketball season is upon us here. DD's team won their weekend qualifier last weekend and now get to play for the state championships in a few weeks. DS's team is inconsistent, but a great group of players. Had to play one of the top teams in the country. Let's just say I know which kids will be getting a free ride to D1 schools and which one's should continue studying.:rolleyes1 DD also playing softball and pitching well. Won her game on Saturday 15-2 with the 2 runs because the coach, who shall remain nameless, wanted to "try" some new things.

Getting ready for the DDCC. Everything booked and continuing to get ready to run the 5K. Knee is OK, but not responding as well as I would have liked. We'll be ready though. It will be great to meet a lot of the dads I have not.

My cousin got married last Saturday and the theme was.......wait for it......Haunted Mansion!:thumbsup2 The wedding was outside and the weather was awesome. Reception was a heated tent. They had ghoulish decorations, a (first time for me) "candy bar" that was pretty yummy and lots of great decor. All in all a great evening. We don't get out much without the kids. Kind of think I'll steal the candy idea for our Halloween night.

Well, I think I'll go back a few pages and see what everyone is up to since I have a few extra minutes. That is all.

Oh, before I forget. CJ.....The dolphins need a new QB.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sounds like a great couple of days! Got cold for a day here, now in the 70's and 80's (unseasonably warm). That's the best I can do to compete with the Keys and sharks. Not very good competition, but what can you do. Love the pics of the crabs. DD will say they are dancing.

Happy Tuesday.
I'm flat on my back still. Can't even reach the muscle relaxant/pain killers because they're out of reach on the bathroom cabinet.
I'm hoping DD19 will come home around noon. Food would be nice, too.

This sucks.

Sorry to hear, hope you are feeling better. Back issues are the worse, here's to a speedy recovery

The good doctor told me to lay off the stogies. I already know that they're not good for me, but always felt like @$#& after enjoying one. Told me that was probably a sign I need to not enjoy them. Bummer.

Old Weller tastes a lot like Pappy van Winkle, but without the murderous price tag. Willets is pretty much my favourite. Cool bottle as well.
That's one thing I really enjoy about trying new bourbons; is finding cool new bottles.
